1) Idols should be made from natural materials. Use of traditional clay should be used instead of
baked clay. Plaster of paris should be avoided.
2) Painting of idols should be discouraged. In case idols to be painted, water soluble and natural
dyes should be used.
3) Use of Thermo col or any non biodegradable items for decoration and idol to be strictly
avoided.
4) Eco friendly paper plate and banana shell leaves should be used for distribution of Prasad.
5) Music system/ microphones/drums should be avoided as much as possible. In case it is being
used,emitting sound level should be within Ambient Air Quality Standards in respect to noise
level as per provision of Noise pollution RULES 2000.
6) Worship materials like flowers,decorating materials should be removed before immersion of
idols.
7) Public should be educated on ill effects of immersion in holy water bodies through mass
awareness programme.
8) To keep vehicles away from “Puja Mandap” as far as possible.
9) If necessary, immersion ceremony may be spreaded over two days to avoid water pollution
and overcrowding.
10) The pooja organizers should be involved in a campaign on ill effects of toxic compounds of
coloring materials and decorative materials used in the festive season.
