Maths Lesson day 4)

ELENI Introduction)

 What do you notice and what do you wonder about money? (In this time
students will have the opportunity to think independently about what they
know and wonder about money coins)
 Students will then watch a 5-minute video on Australian coins
 https://youtu.be/Q20f-kRMix8
 They will then go back to their table groups and work together to place the
coins into the smallest to largest value.

SUMMER:
 Students will then come back as a group where you will explain why the gold
coin holds the most value.
 100 10 cent coins make up $1
 4 50 cents make up $2
 Students need to understand that just because the 50-cent coin in the largest
does not mean it holds the highest value.
 Now students will go back to change their coin value positions

ELENI

Students will then summarise their learning by reflecting to the following questions
on their group butcher’s paper:

 Coin $... had the smallest value

 Coin $... had the largest value
 What did you find challenging?
 What are you wondering now?
