Spurious Response Immunity

8.1 Test purpose

Spurious response rejection is a measure of the capability of a pager to

operate successfully above the threshold value, due to an unwanted
modulated signal in the operating frequency of at least two channels
bandwidth (±62.5KHz).

8.2 Conformance requirement

Spurious response rejection is a measure of the capability of a pager to

operate successfully above at least 40dB, due to an unwanted
modulated signal in the operating frequency of at least two channels
bandwidth (±62.5KHz).

8.3 Method of measurement

a. signal generator 1 and 2 are set as follows,

Signal generator 1:
Frequency range: Fc (Carrier frequency)
Modulation: FM EXT.DC
Deviation: ±4.5KHz for POCSAG
±4.8KHz for FLEX
Amplitude: +3dB for the best sensitivity

Signal generator 2:
Frequency range: 30MHz~(Fc-62.5KHz) and (Fc+62.5KHz)~1GHz
Modulation: 400Hz tone
Deviation: ±3KHz
Amplitude: 0dBm

b. initially, signal generator 2 shall be switch off. The amplitude of

signal generator 1 shall be adjusted, as described in sub-clause 6.1
to record the measured output level for the best pager sensitivity.
c. as step b, add 3dB
 d. signal generator 2 shall then be switched on (unwanted signal), and
its frequency adjusted to the slow scan mode for
30MHz~(Fc-62.5KHz) and (Fc+62.5KHz)~1GHz.
e. the wanted signal shall then be continuously repeated until the
successful response is not observed. The input level of the
unwanted signal shall be reduced for the successful response
received at 8 times out of 10 pages. The level of the input signal
shall then be recorded.
f. the spurious response immunity for receiving signal at the frequency
is the ratio in dB of the unwanted signal level recorded in step e with
the level of the wanted signal in step c.

8.4 Test requirement

a. Equipment set up diagram as in Fig. 3.

b. The test shall be conducted in a shielded room, and as Annex A.

c. The Applicant shall supply the text fixture permitting relative
measurements to be carried out on the submitted pager.
