CRIME INVESTIGATION REPORT

We received a case study of the deceased Mrs. Juhi Pandey(deceased) who used to work with
Indian times in the capacity of principal Correspondent. She was looking after the legal and
constitutional implications covering investigating agencies such as CBI and IB and, in this
connection she made frequent visits to the Prime Minister’s Office. Her husband Mr. Rakesh
also a journalist and was working as a legal Editor with the Indian times. Both of them lived
together at B-42, Navkunj Apartments, Patparganj, Delhi.

Juhi had a brother named Jayant, who was a resident of Panchkula. On 29th November 2022,
Mr. Jayant visited his sister and brother-in-law at their residence. He left for office on 30th
November 2022, at about 10 am. Mr. Rakesh also left the apartment at 12;15 pm and as a
consequence, the only people left in the said flat were Juhi, their infant son Tanmay and
maidservant Sunita. Sunita also requested Juhi for a financial help for her daughter’s
marriage, which was denied by Juhi which left Sunita with a grudge.

At about 3:30 pm Mr. Adhikari from Chandigarh visited the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Pandey
inviting them for his son’s wedding Juhi called Rakesh on phone where she handed over the
phone to Adhikari who spoke with Rakesh and invited him over the call. Later Tanmay left
for coaching classes at 3:50 pm and Sunita left at 4:00 pm.

At about 5 pm, on the same day, Mr. Rakesh received a phone call from Jayant saying, No on
is answering your door, I have ringed the Doorbell several times and knocked upon door
constantly, yet no one is responding, I have also tried calling juhi many times but she is also
not answering the door”. Thus, Rakesh sent a spare key with his office boy at 5:25 pm and
another attempt was made to open the door. After entering the house at around 5:30 pm,
Jayant called up rakesh and informed him in panic that “someone has stabbed Juhi, there is
blood all over the bedroom, please come home immediately.” Juhi was taken to city hospital,
where she was declared as having been brought dead.

FINDINGS BY THE INVESTIGATING TEAM

After examining the case study, crime scene and the forensic report under Sec.156 of CrPC
we have come to the assumption that after Sunita left the house, Adhikari was left with Juhi.
Juhi served tea, biscuits, sweets and namkeen after having the tea Adhikari around 4:20 PM
seeing Juhi alone tried to take advantage of Juhi as he was a very good friend of Mr. Verma
and he knew about the fact that Juhi and Mr. Verma had an extramarital affair. So Adhikari
forced Juhi to have Sexual intercourse with him but after the refusal by Juhi, he might have
tried to garrote her using the wire that was found on the crime scene but she managed to
break out. The moment she was able to get into her senses after getting garroted, Adhikari
attacked her head from behind with a pan which was again found on the crime scene with the
hair of the deceased attached to it, and as a result she might have become unconscious. But t
tamper with the evidences so that the suspicion also goes on Sunita he used the knife to stab
her and as Sunita was highly raged against Juhi he Stabbed her 16 times so it seems like
Sunita might have killed her out of revenge. The knife, Pan and wire all had the same finger
prints that of the suspect and while she was struggling to survive the articles kept in the room
got scattered. After Adhikari was done stabbing Juhi, he again tried to mislead the police by
transferring the suspicion on Jayant too, he stole property papers as he knew through Verma
that there was some dispute between Rakesh and Jayant regarding property. And as the infant
Tanmay was of R. K. Verma Adhikari might have asked for safe passage from the crime
scene in return of Tanmay as according to the case study Tanmay was to young to go to
coaching and there is no entry of Tanmay going out in apartment’s register and there is no
mention of Adhikari leaving the house of Juhi. So Adhikari while leaving the house creates
footprints in the house using shoes of Jayant so that it seems like the crime has been
committed by Jayant and while leaving Adhikari took the infant with him and Mr. Verma
being an IPS officer gave a safe passage for him.

Adhikari left the apartment at around 4:50 leaving Juhi to die in pain and she died around
5:05. And when Jayant reached Juhi’s apartment it was too late.

Adhikari Should be punishable under the following:

• Sexual Harassment with Juhi under Sec.376 of IPC

• Hurting Juhi physically under Sec.319-338 of IPC
• Murder of Juhi under Sec.300 of IPC
• Abduction of Tanmay under Sec.359 of IPC
• Causing disappearance of evidence under Sec.201 of IPC
