Anacleto del Rosario y Sales, aged
35, was born on July 13, 1860, in
Santa Cruz, Manila, within the
Captaincy General of the
Philippines, and resided at the
same address in Santa Cruz,
Manila, Captaincy General of the
Philippines. Anacleto had three
children, Jose, Luis, and Rosa,
and was married to Valeriana
Valdezco. His parents were
Casimira and Eugenio del Rosario.
Anacleto del Rosario, a Filipino Chemist,
began his education in a private
institution, where his guardian supervised
him. He joined Ateneo de Manila University
at 13 and became president of the
Congregacion Mariana, a religious
organization. Anacleto earned a degree in
Bachelor of Arts in 1876 and later studied
land surveying at the University of Santo
Tomas. At 22, he also completed a Pharmacy
and a Master of Science degree.
Furthermore, he also pursued other degrees,
including a preparatory course in Natural
History, Plant Pharmaceutical Matter,
Animal and Mineral Pharmaceutical Matter,
Chemical-inorganic Pharmacy, and Chemical-
organic Pharmacy. In his first year, he had
the highest honors.
Due to Tuberculosis, Anacleto
del Rosario y Sales passed away
on May 2, 1895.

Anacleto del Rosario began his career in the
pharmaceutical business, partnering with Don
Enrique Perez and Don Benito Legarda. He later
became a Chemist at the LA Rosario distillery
and studied bacteriology during the cholera
outbreak. He was appointed as a Pharmacist
member of the Commission of Health and later
joined the Junta Inspectora de Bilibid. In 1886,
he passed a thesis in analytical chemistry at
the Manila Mint, leading to the directorship of
the Municipal Laboratory of the City of Manila.
He studied medical waters in various locations
and published two works on mineral water in
Luzon. He also worked as a chemist at the Ayala
distillery, discovering a process for purifying
alcohol and making nipa wine similar to Spanish
wine.
