UPGRADING FIRMWARE smart2K/V2™

General Requirement:
1. PC completed with serial port RS-232
2. Firmware Upgrade Cable
3. Disk contains:
a). Binary file binary from the new firmware
b). Utility software

Firmware Upgrade Cable:

The Firmware Upgrade
cable consists of three
important parts: the
Firmware Upgrade
Connector, the RS-232
connector, and the LED
in the middle of the cable.

Connecting the firmware upgrade cable:

• Turn off the smart2K/V2™
terminal.
• Open the terminal.
• The firmware upgrade
connector is situated on the
bottom right corner of the
motherboard.

 • Connect the
RS-232 of
the Firmware
Upgrade
Cable to the
computer.

• Connect the
Firmware
Upgrade
Connector of the
cable to the
Firmware
Upgrade
Connector on the
motherboard
facing upwards.

• Turn on the terminal.

• The light in the middle of the cable will
be turned on.

Then please do the Upgrade Firmware smart2K/V2™ process:

• Copy the rfu folder into a space in your PC, for example directory C.
• Double click the rfu.exe ( ). The main menu will appear:

 • Click the Setup menu and click
Communications.

• Click on the Use Serial Connection radio

button.
• Choose Baud Rate of 115200.
• Choose the port.
• Click on the
• Click .
• You will be back on the main menu.

• Click the Setup menu and click Boot Strap

Loader.

• Type the directory of the rfu followed

by a file called coldload.bin in the
Cold Loader input box.
• Type the directory of the rfu followed
by a file called pilot.bin in the Pilot
BIOS input box.
• Click . You are back on the
main menu.

 • Click the File menu and click
Load Flash Image.

• On the Choose Flash Image

window, Click on the button to
choose the file to upload. Choose a
file name, for example a file name:
SMVB22408.bin.
• Click .

• The Firmware is being Upgraded.

• After the progress is finished, turn
off the terminal and disconnect the
Firmware Upgrade Cable.

After the following process above finished, please do this following

steps:

• Turn on the terminal.

• Press C on smart2K/V2™
• Input the following numbers consecutively: 1 2 3 4 5.
• Press F1/↑ untill this message below appear in your display:
Set Up
Reset Memory
• Press Enter (↵ ).
Are you sure?
0=Cancel, 1=Yes

• Press 1 to execute.

Reset Memory?
0=Cancel, 1=Yes
• Press 1 to execute.
DataWillBeLost?
0=Cancel, 1=Yes
• Press 1 to execute.
• Terminal will coldstarting
• If firmware version is changed, terminal will display
Init Flash ?
Password :
• Type password 170845 + Enter (this is should be done)
• Terminal continue coldstarting until ready
• Upgrading firmware is completed.
