I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of key concepts of quadratic functions.
B. Performance The learner is able to investigate thoroughly mathematical relationship in various situations,
Standard formulate real life problems involving quadratic functions and solve them using a variety of
strategies.
C. Most Essential The learners..
Learning Solves quadratic equations by:
Competencies 1. extracting square roots;
(MELCs) 2. factoring;
3. completing the square; and
4. using the quadratic formula.
(M9AL-Ia-b-1)
D. Specific Objectives At the end of the period, at least 80% of the students with at least 80% level of
proficiency, should be able to:
1. identify the common monomial factor of the terms in a quadratic equation;
2. describe perfect square quadratic trinomials;
3. solve quadratic equations by factoring the common monomial factor/perfect square
trinomials; and
4. Value checking the solutions for verifications.

3. 10x2, 25x
4. 18x2, 6x
5. 7x ,14x2
6. 12x2, 4x
B. Solve by factoring
1. 4x2 – 4x + 1 = 0
2. x2 + 36 = 12x
3. x2 + 6x + 12 = 3
4. 2x2 + 4x + 2 = 0
5. 4x2 – 32x = -64
D. Application and Solve by factoring.
Generalization 1. 8x2 + 5x = 2x + 4x2
(Elaborate) 2.2x2 + 4x = 0
3. 4x2 +2x =0
4. 8x2 – x = 2x2
5. 7x2 + 3x + 6= 6
6. x2 + 10 + 25 = 0
7. 25x2 + 20x = - 4
8. x2 + 22x + 100 = - 21
9. 4x2 + 24x = - 9
10. 30x + 25 = - 9x2
How do we find the GCF of the quadratic and the linear term when c=0?
How do we know that a quadratic trinomial is a perfect square trinomial?
How do we solve quadratic equations by factoring the common monomial factor/ perfect square
trinomial?
E. Evaluation Let the students answer Assessment of Module 3 week 2 numbers 1 to 10 about solving
quadratic equations by factoring.

Enrichment “Why is it important to think of ALL the FACTORS involved when trying to find the best
Activity (Extend) solution to a real-life problem?
Guided Questions:
1. Do you have problems right now?
2. How do you plan on solving that problem?
3. Why is it important to think of ALL the FACTORS involved when trying to find the
