As a student, the first time I helped others was when I saw an old man struggling to walk in a

market, so as a child of God, I assisted the old man in walking to his destination, and as a gesture
of pity, I gave him some of my change. That experience when I first helped other people gave me
a relief in my heart, or it gave me happiness and joy in my heart because I helped someone with
what I had, and it gave me the realization that there was someone who needed help more than we
did, and that we really needed to focus on them rather than other things. This event makes me a
better person by reminding me that helping others with what we have and not expecting anything
in return, rather than helping others because we know that they will return it, is a good action to
take. Helping others with all our hearts and out of pity is one of my missions as a Christian. It
also makes me a better person by making me realize that if you have a good, kind heart, you are
always helping, even when others are not. Furthermore, helping others who are really in need
will always be my action. We consider ourselves (the students) to be the primary beneficiaries
because of the lessons and realizations that they will gain from helping others, particularly when
they see how happy and thankful the person they've helped truly is; as a result, they will learn so
much about helping others and have so many realizations that helping others without regard to an
event or anything else is good and right. Mainly, the mission of the Alay sa Belen is to help other
people who are in need and to help the students gain lessons and realizations from the
experience. So, it promotes experiential learning and social transformation and is in line with the
La Salette mission. Helping other people is part of the La Salette Mission, and by helping others,
they can evangelize other people too. Evangelizing also involves assisting others in coming to
know God and his grace, as a result of which their lives can be transformed into peaceful and
meaningful ones.
