    1 Read the vocabulary list: THE BEDROOM

    2 Look at the picture and write the names of the things.

    3 THERE IS / THERE ARE


    Verbo Haber

    There + Verb to be indicates that something exists or doesn’t exist.


    (“There” + “to be” indica la existencia de algo)

    ❖ Use there is / there isn’t with singular nouns.


    (There is / There isn’t se usan cuando hablamos de sustantivos en singular)

    • There is a window in the kitchen. (Hay una ventana en la cocina)


    • There´s a window, a door and a desk. (Hay una ventana, una puerta y un escritorio)
    • There isn’t a table. (No hay una mesa)
    • There isn´t a poster or a painting on that wall. (No hay un poster ni un cuadro en esa pared)

    ❖ Use there are / there aren’t with plural nouns.


    (There are / there aren’t se usan cuando hablamos de sustantivos plurales)

    • There are chairs. (Hay sillas)


    • There are chairs and sofás in my house. (Hay sillas y sofás en mi casa)
    • There aren’t books in that bedroom. (No hay libros en esa habitación)
    • There aren´t books, magazines, dictionaries or newspapers on the floor. (No hay libros,
    revitas, diccionarios ni diarios en el piso)

    Quantities: SOME – ANY


    Some and any describe quantity.
    (“Some” y “any” describen
    cantidades)

    ❖ Use some in affirmative sentences.


    (“Some” se usa en oraciones afirmativas)

    • There are some chairs in that classroom. (Hay algunas sillas en esa aula)

    ❖ Use any in questions and negative sentences.


    (“Any” se usa en preguntas y oraciones negativas)

    • There aren’t any tables outside. (No hay mesas afuera)


    • Are there any lamps on your desk? (¿Hay algunas lámparas sobre tu escritorio?)

    4 Look at your bedroom and complete these sentences:


    Observa tu habitación y completa estas oraciones:

    1) There is a __________________ in my bedroom.

    2) There isn´t any _________ in my bedroom.

    3) 3) There are some ____________ in my bedroom.

    4) There aren’t any ______________ in my bedroom.

    5) Look at this photo and complete the sentences with the verb “To Be” (IS
    or ARE – ISN’T or AREN’T).
