Pharmacy
- Pharmacy is one of the medical specialties and is the field of healthcare that
focuses or revolves around the practice of preparing, dispensing, and managing
medications and pharmaceuticals. It focuses on information or knowledge about
various aspects related to medications, including their chemical, biological, and
physical properties, their proper use, possible effects and consequences,
interactions with the body, as well as safe storage and disposal.
2. What is a Pharmacist?
- Pharmacists are licensed professionals that are experts in medications and are
responsible in the preparation and correct distribution of prescriptions of dosage
forms of drugs or medications, such as tablets, capsules, and sterile solutions for
injection for the patients.
- Pharmacists are also professionals that are knowledgeable about the
composition of medicines, including their chemical, biological, and physical
properties, as well as their manufacture and use. Pharmacists must also be
trained in checking the prescriptions of patients from the letterhead down to the
doctor’s signature, as well as be knowledgeable in the generic name, brand
name, and needed dosage of medicines to avoid wrong dispensing that might
result in undesirable effects or serious consequences on the patients.

- Pharmaceuticals is a term that is synonymous to medicine. It refers to a broad
category of medical products that are designed, manufactured, and distributed
for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. These products include various types of
medications, drugs, and medical substances that are used to prevent, treat, or
alleviate medical conditions in humans or animals. Pharmaceuticals can be
available in various forms, such as tablets, capsules, injections, creams,
ointments, and more. They are subject to rigorous research, testing, and
regulatory processes to ensure their safety, efficacy, and quality before they are
made available for use by healthcare professionals and patients.
