NOTE
There are provisions in all engines for connecting ancommercial engine compressor
washing device (Turbomeca) [ HMF-BG-135-100 ] . The engine can also be washed
using a commercial engine compressor washing device other than the ones specified
under B. Special Tools. In either case, it must be properly connected to the engine.

To preserve the battery, the compressor should be washed using external power.

□ E.1. Energize helicopter electrical system AMM 24-00-00,2-1 .

□ E.2. Open access door on LH and RH engine cowlings.

WARNING
RISK OF INJURY: RESIDUAL QUANTITIES OF THE CLEANING AGENT CAN GENERATE
POISONOUS GASES. THESE CAN ENTER THE CAB AREA THROUGH THE HEATING
SYSTEM. THE BLEED AIR HEATING MUST BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE ENGINE
PRIOR TO WASHING THE COMPRESSOR.

□ E.3. Connect the commercial engine compressor washing device (Turbomeca)


[ HMF-BG-135-100 ] or a corresponding device to the engine.

□ E.4. Prior to washing the compressor, loosen the bleed air line on the engine and
seal the bleed air outlet AMM 21-40-00,4-7 . On helicopters which have a quick-
release coupling in the bleed air lines (optional), separate the bleed air lines by
opening the quick-release coupling. The drain tube line on combustion chamber drain
valve can be loosened to allow the medium to drain faster.

□ E.5. Wash the engine compressor as described in Engine Maintenance Manual


(EMM) or Engine Maintenance Manual (EMM) . For this purpose, please also
observe the operating manual of thecommercial engine compressor washing device
(Turbomeca) [ HMF-BG-135-100 ] .

□ E.6. After washing the compressor, open the bleed air outlet on the engine and
connect the bleed air line AMM 21-40-00,4-7 . On helicopters which have a
quick-release coupling in the bleed air lines (optional), connect bleed air lines together
with the quick-release coupling. If the drain tube line was loosened, connect it to
combustion chamber drain valve.

□ E.7. Disconnect the commercial engine compressor washing device (Turbomeca)


[ HMF-BG-135-100 ] or a corresponding device from the engine.

□ E.8. Close access doors on LH and RH engine cowlings.

□ E.9. To prevent corrosion in the heating mixing valve, the bleed air heating is to be
switched on during the subsequent dry run that is required by the engine
manufacturer.

□ E.10. De-energize helicopter electrical system AMM 24-00-00,2-1 .
