Investigating the Roles and Responsibilities of Student

Athletes of San Antonio National High School

Being a student athlete is being trained or skilled in sports,

games, and such to develop their talents and as well as their

leadership. A student athlete represents the school in any sport

events. Being a student athlete must be very difficult and it deals

with a lot of challenges. Most student athletes are struggling how to

balance their time between practice and competition and in their

academics. Playing a sport is not just simply playing a game. It

requires more effort, skills, discipline, and patience. Through sports,

you can obtain scholarships, plenty of people want to hire you, and

you’re able to support your family. Sports is life changing. The

researchers are conducting this study to investigate the Roles and

Responsibilities of Student Athlete of San Antonio National High

School. By conducting this, we can understand how they manage

their difficulties.

According to the article, “Transition Blues: The Experience of

a Student Athlete,” a lot of time and effort is spent by student

athletes on their sport (Saxe, Hardin, Taylor, & Pate, 2017). “In-

Season vs. Out- of- Season Academic Performance of Student

Athletes,” academics and grades can be negatively impacted by the

stress of wanting to succeed in the sport and in the classroom

(Scott, Paskus, Miranda, Petr, & McArdle, 2008). This will help to

show student athletes’ insight into what will be expected from them.

In addition, this study will show what life will look like for a student

athlete while balancing personal life, sports, and academics. From

this, researchers have found the importance of student-athlete in

school.

This study is conducted to determine the Roles and

Responsibilities of Student Athletes of San Antonio National High

School. This seeks to answer the following questions:

a. What is a student athlete?

b. What are the roles and responsibilities of a student athlete of

San Antonio National High School?

c. How does student athlete of San Antonio National High

School manage their stress brought by their roles and

responsibilities?

These research questions will guide the researchers on the

coverage of the research study.

The purpose of this study is to provide the expected roles

and responsibilities of student athlete of San Antonio National High

School that may not be aware of. This will give information about

what students may expect to manage.
