A place to visit in my province

Things you should do in my province

Good morning respected members of jury, my dear teachers, all the guests and
family members. My name is . . . . . . . . . . . . . I am a . . . . grade student of Holy
Redeemer Banphai School. I am a resident of . . . . . . . . Khon Kaen and the topic I
am going to talk about is a place to visit in my province. But first I will give you a
brief introduction of my province Khon Kaen.
There are 77 provinces in Thailand. Khon kaen is a province located in the upper
northeast of Thailand. Khon Kaen is the commercial and political centre of
Northeastern Thailand and is well known for the high-quality silk that is produced
in the province.
Khon Kaen province also hold a historical importance in many ways. A long history
reflects both its past and present social and cultural glory. In prehistoric time it
was a place where giant dinosaurs used to live.
There are many other beautiful places in Khon Kaen. These places include famous
and historical temples, beautiful markets and also pre historic archeological sites.
We can say that people of all interests can find a place to visit in Khon Kaen.
Among all these places my favorite place to visit is Ubolratana Dam.
Ubolratana dam plays significant roles in generating electricity, fishery, irrigation,
flood prevention, transportation, and recreation for the people.
Ubolratana dam is worth visiting due to a number of reasons. It is a beautiful
place with mind-blowing sceneries and people come here to relax. There is also a
very famous temple called Wat Phra Bat Pan Kham.
Wat Phra Phutthabat Phu Phan Kham is located on the hillside of Phu Phan Kham
Mountain. The temple has a huge white Buddha image called Luangpho Yai or
Luangpho Khao, of 14 meters in height. There are 1,049 stairs leading the way up
to the temple’s front. The view from the temple is very beautiful. Besides its
beauty the temple is famous for its number of stairs.
There is also a national park near the dam. Natural rock formations and beautiful
waterfalls are famous sites of this park. Also people go hiking in the park and
spend time in nature.
For those people who love sports, there is a beautiful and famous golf course
near the dam where people can play golf and enjoy beautiful tree lines.
There is a series of restaurants built in little huts floating above the water. Khon
Kaen is famous for its grilled tilapia fish, and people love it. The fish is served with
a basket of vegetables, some kanom jeen rice noodles, and a chili dipping sauce –
the combination altogether is known as miang pla pao.
Many people go to Ubol ratana dam for a day trip but if someone wants to stay
there, there are many hotels and resorts in the surrounding areas with beautiful
views and tasty food.
Ubol Ratana dam is not the only place to visit in Khon kaen. There are many other
beautiful places to visit. For example, people who like to visit temples can go to
Nong Weng temple and Wat thung Setthi. These are very famous landmarks of
the Khon kaen province.
For people who have an interest in shopping and experiencing local handicrafts
can go to Day and night markets which are located in almost every city of the
province.
There are many museums in Khon kaen. Natural history museum of Khon kaen
university, Khon kaen national museum and Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum are the
most famous.
In the end I would like to say that Khon kaen is one of the most beautiful
provinces of thailand with cultural and historical diversity.
