Project Title: DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING OF PNEUMETIC BED JACK

Project Objective:

1. We are designing a pneumatic bed jack for easy cleaning.

2. We are manufacturing a pneumatic bed jack for easy lifting of the bed.

Pre-requisite: One should know about mechanical system & designing and should know hydraulics & properties.

SDG Mapped: According to SDG 9, we are building resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster

innovation.

Outcome – Product.

Social Relevance: As living spaces become smaller in many urban areas, optimizing space is crucial. Pneumatic bed jacks allow for the creation

of storage space underneath the bed, helping people maximize the use of their living areas. A pneumatic jack is a tool used to lift heavy objects using

compressed air.

Project scope:
1. Design and develop a functional and safe pneumatic bed jack prototype.
2. Incorporate adjustable height functionality for the bed.
3. Ensure the prototype can lift a standard-sized bed off the ground to create storage space.
4. Evaluate the feasibility of integrating eco-friendly and sustainable materials into the design.

2
Objective: Pneumatic bed jacks can be used in various settings, including homes, dormitories, and even temporary housing. This versatility can
be socially relevant in situations where adaptable furniture is needed. It also helps to lift the under bed storage with complete system. This system is
extremely efficient, trustworthy and easy installation lets the users install this quickly and avail its advantages.

Planning & task definition:

1. Doing the analysis on the software and generating multiple designs.
2. Buying the required material and start prototyping.

3. Checking for the requirements need for prototyping.

Work plan: Phase 1: project initiation and planning

• Define project goals, scope, and objectives.
• Conduct a thorough literature review on pneumatic bed jack working system other related topics.
• Identify target audience and user requirements.
• Set project milestones and timeline.
• Allocate resources and budget.
• Formulate a management plan for the project.

Phase 2: Design and component selection

• Choose the type of mechanism and design it accordingly.
• Select appropriate frame and make prototype for other components.
• Design the overall system architecture.
• Create detailed mechanical drawing or CAD models of the pneumatic bed jack mechanism.

4
Phase 3: Mechanical fabrication
• Start building the mechanical structure according to the designed drawings.
• Assemble the detection system mechanism ensuring smooth movement of the portable air compressor, and its accurate positioning.
• Integrate screws and function in to the mechanism or mechanical structure.
• Test mechanical components for functionality and durability.
• Address any fabrication challenges and make necessary adjustments.

Phase 4: Testing and calibration

• Conduct initial tests to validate detection accuracy and responsiveness.
• Ensure the pneumatic cylinder has an adequate load capacity to lift the bed and any added weight.

• Test the systems under different conditions and real-world scenarios.

Literature review (with references):

1. Md Shaffi (2014) - A jack is a device that uses force to lift heavy loads. The primary mechanism with which force is applied varies,
depending on the specific type of jack, but is typically a screw thread or a hydraulic cylinder. Jacks can be categorized based on the type
of force they employ: mechanical or hydraulic. Mechanical jacks, such as car jacks and house jacks, lift heavy equipment and are rated
based on lifting capacity (for example, the number of tons they can lift). Hydraulic jack tend to be stronger and can lift heavier loads higher,
and include bottle jacks and floor jacks. (https://www.academia.edu/22357645/Design_of_Mechanical_Hydraulic_Jack)

5
2. Anil Kumar Mishra.(2015) - This research paper analysis the modification of the existing motor screw jack by incorporating an electric
motor in the screw in order to make load lifting easier. In this modified design, the power screw is rotated by connecting motor through
universal coupling, plugged to the automobile. (https://ijseas.com/volume1/v1i3/ijseas20150343.pdf)

Problem identification: -The mechanical jack requires more work and is ineffective on uneven surfaces. It consumes more power, requires
more maintenance, is suitable for small capacities, and calls for skilled labour. The goal of this project is to improve the functionality and take into
account human factors in the design of the current car jack. The project's broad goal is to reduce the amount of work required to operate the jack.
to provide a built-in, permanently attached hydraulic jacking system incorporated into the frame of the vehicle in a way that reduces the chance of
additional damage.
