The first recorded play is It is the story of the god Osiris who performed in ancient Egypt in 2000 BC.

It
has been performed annually since the dawn of civilization. The drama clearly marks the longevity of the
relationship between art and devotion. The ancient Greeks pioneered the transformation of drama into
an art form. They expanded the boundaries of theater by presenting tragic plays and entertaining plays.
And they pioneered the creation of dramas using mythical characters. Furthermore, the Greeks took the
lead in presenting drama criticism, thus professionalizing the art of drama.

Western drama began to develop under the Roman Empire and this beginning took place during the
Middle Ages in England. Due to the development of Western theater, by the 16th, 17th, and 18th
centuries, Western theater spread to countries such as Spain, Italy, France, and Russia. Also, the theater
tradition that arose in North America is also the beginning of American theater.

The history of Eastern theater dates back to 1000 BC. Indian Sanskrit drama is its origin. Since the 17th
century, theater has been created in Japan and they are the creators of Kabukino and Japanese theater
traditions. Drama traditions were also revealed in China, Korea and South Asia.
