At the beginning of drought, the dry season,

A plague knocked down our pillars and means of education.

We fell from the skies of convenience,

down to surf the oceans of new rules and abstinence.

Though locked and flooded we are, with tasks and dues,

/əʊ/ /ɔ/

we rowed on and offline through our tears and blues.

/ow/

As we paddled and saddled, cold waters of truth on our boats poured;

Saved are the ones who are privileged,

while drowned are the others who are poor.
