2 Hardware Principle

2.1 Module Composing

The device consists of main control board, PC, peristaltic pump control module, temperature control module,
light collection module, filter wheel control module, printer and key module.
The connection among each module is represented as Figure2.1:

Filter wheel control Printer module Key module Communicate with PC,
module and control peristaltic
pump, filter wheel, light collection, Peltier temperature control, printer and key module.
2 Peristaltic pump control module
Used for controlling the peristaltic pump to aspirate liquid, rinse and calibrate. The PC sends the
communication protocols of each task to the lower computer for controlling peristaltic pump motor for
finishing relative operations.
3 Filter wheel control module
Control the position of filter wheel. The light rate is different for different wavelength, so select proper
wavelength is very important. When test different samples, select relative wavelength for selecting the filter in
different positions.
4 Light collection module
Used for signal collecting and processing. The photocell transforms the light signal to electric signal, after
magnifying by amplifier, finally, sends the digital signal which is transformed by AD conversion to singlechip
for processing.
5 Peltier temperature control module
Real-time collection for the temperature of the colorimetric cell, and control the temperature in set range by
PID adjustment.
6 Printer module
Print trend graph, test data, quality-control report and patient integrative report, etc.
7 PC module
Control the LCD for displaying information of test items. Parameters can be set, and it finishes relative
operations with main control board by protocols.
8 Key module
As the input equipment, it is used for user to input information.

3 Device Inspection

3.1 Appearance Check and Main Components Inspection

1)Products' shell should meet the requirement of smooth and bright surface, even color and luster, without any
defect such as mechanical damage and crackle, etc.
2)Products' panel should be no coating come off or corrosion. The text and mark on the panel should be clearly
visible, firm and smooth.
3)The plastic parts on the product should be no gas mark, cracking, deformation or phenomenon of instillations
overflow.
4)The biohazard warning sign on the rear side of the upper shell should be clear and visible.
5)The shells meet tight junction, well fixed.
6)The adjusting mechanism of product should be flexible and reliable, the fasteners should be no loose
phenomenon.
7)The product's accessories are complete, tagged correctly.

3.2 Basic Functions Inspection

Install the printing paper, insert the three-wire power cord into the power socket of the device, turn the power
switch to "ON".
1 Inspection requirement
There is not any fault alarm from turning on the power switch to entering system standby interface.
2 Inspection methods
After the buzzer sounds, the device starts working. The power indicator lights, LCD displays "loading", it will
enter the application after the startup of core board is complete, the source lamp of optical system lights. If the
printer has paper, it will make a paper walk test. After completing self-check, enter the interface which is
waiting for the stable light source, shown as Figure3.2-a. Press "CANCEL" to cancel the waiting, the
peristaltic pump will running after pressing "ASP", the rotational filter wheel switch each filter, collect light
intensity values of each wavelength. If there is a intensity value lower than alarm value, the screen will
displays error prompt. If filter wheel rotate abnormally, the screen will displays error prompt too. After
entering the standby interface, the bottom right corner of the screen displays that the temperature of the
colorimetric cell is 36-38℃. Because of the different of environment temperature, after entering the standby
interface, the temperature of the colorimetric cell need some time to be stabilized at 37℃, shown as
Figure3.2-b.

4.2 Assembling

Assemble according to the opposite steps of disassembling. And pay attention to the following operations:
1 Installation for pump pipe: after installing pump pipe, when use screw to adjust the clamping plate,
adjusting from tight to loose, to make sure moderate impaction and smooth work in the pump, after absorbing,
the liquid in the pipette should not flow out when the peristaltic pump is stopping.
2 Installation for halogen lamp: insert the lamp entirely. When tightening the screws of amphenol connector,
use proper force to avoid damaging to the Halogen lamp. Finally, wipe it.
3 Position adjustment for the halogen lamp: refer to OPERATION METHOD in User Manual for details.
 Enter "System---Machine set(password:111111)" interface, Click "Rinse" to aspirate the distilled water
into colorimetric cell;

28
Service Manual

 Input number 1-6 in "Filter check" item, click "Turn" to circumrotate the filter to 340-620nm;
 Click "Start" in "Lamp check" item to display real-time AD value, click "Stop" to stop AD updating;
 Insert the light socket into light source chamber, switch to each filter and record the AD value;
 Select the filter whose AD value is maximal, adjust the fixed screw on the light source socket to change
its height; adjust the adjusting screw A and B to change the pitching angle of the light source socket(as Figure
4.1.7.3), then change the AD value. When AD value is stable in about 26000, lock the fixed screw in the
middle of the light source socket;
 After adjusting, check the AD value in each filter, its range should be 14000~29000.
4 Assembling and installation for lens: when assembling lens, put the double convex lens, bush, round nut in
the sheath one by one; place the assembled lens into the light source chamber, one side of round nut inside of
light source chamber, the lens pedestal should exceed the lamp plane for 2mm.
5 Assembling and installation for temperature sensor: weld temperature sensor onto wire, then put on a heat
shrinkable tube, shown as Figure 4.2-a.

Figure 4.2-a
 Coat the temperature sensor with thermal silica gel, through the round hole on the pedestal, insert the
sensor into the deepest of the colorimetric cell pedestal, shown as Figure 4.2-b.

 Spread and smooth the thermal silica gel evenly over the side of the colorimetric cell pedestal, make the P
eltier flat on the silica gel, then press it tightly, shown as Figure 4.2-d. Note: the silica gel should be spread in
proper quantity, otherwise it will spill over the adhesive surface; the direction and position of the Peltier should
be placed in the middle and abut on the pedestal.

4.3 Maintenance

 Operate the device following USER MANUAL strictly. When a test item switches to the other one,
rinsing the colorimetric cell is necessary. Rinse all residual reagent to avoid inaccurate result.
 The device has good repeatability for using fixed colorimetric cell, but because the reagent and sample
needed to be added are little, pay special attention to the accuracy of the sample and reagent.
 The reason for the device doesn't aspirate liquid is that it hasn't been used for a long time, which causes
the pipette staved, jammed or pump pipe conglutination, then it needed to be rinsed or replaced
 During working process, it is strictly prohibited to aspirate in strong acid reagent to avoid damaging the
metal head of the pipette. After each using, use the distilled water to rinse the colorimetric cell and
pipette. If the device can't calibrate zero after aspirating in the distilled water for many times, use the
detergent to soak the colorimetric cell. Place it in 37℃ environment, use 10% detergent to fill with the
colorimetric cell for soaking about 15 minutes, then use water to rinse.

4.4 Updating

Refer to the operation methods in USER MANUAL, insert the flash disk contained updating package, click

34
Service Manual

USB updating button, password is 888888, then the system will update automatically, the message "update
successful" appears after finishing updating, then the device will re-boot automatically, finally remove the
