who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we

Day 3: Wednesday 11 January 2023

DISCERNING THE VOICE OF GOD

Acts 2: 5-13 NKJV When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one
place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole
house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon
each of them. And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard
them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marvelled, saying to one another, “Look,
are not all these who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we
were born? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia,
Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from
Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the
wonderful works of God.” So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could
this mean?” Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

Psalms 32:8 NKJV I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with
My eye.

James 1:22-25 NKJV But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if
anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he
observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the
perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will
be blessed in what he does.

Often, when God speaks to us, we are not sure it is Him. We tend to mistake His voice for other sources
and vice - versa.

Prayer Point 1: Pray for clarity of perception, that we would not mistake the Holy Spirit for being
filled with wine. In the same vein pray that we would not be swayed by every wind of doctrine.
Prayer Point 2: Pray for an ability to discern the voice of God and to decipher His voice among
the many that demand for our attention.

Prayer Point 3: Pray that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about
with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful
plotting,(Ephesians 4:14).

Prayer Point 4: Pray that as the sent ones, we be doers of the Word and not mere hearers. That
like Isaiah, we would be ready to do God's bidding. (Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Isaiah 6:8 NKJV).
