VISUAL ART

1. THEMATIC ART
Individual Category
6 Hours
SENIOR: Modernised Mythology
JUNIOR: Celestial
- Delegates will create a traditional painting on A3 paper, based on the given theme
- Judging Criteria: creativity, composition, complexity, drawing/form, shading and
relevance to theme
- Limit per delegation: 2 participants (1 per division)

2. STILL LIFE
Individual Category
6 Hours
THEME: Basant
- Delegates will draw and paint the provided still life on A3 paper
- Judging Criteria: accuracy of drawing/proportions, shading and usage of mediums
- Limit per delegation: 2 participants

3. LIFE DRAWING
Individual Category
6 Hours
THEME: Mortality
- Delegates will replicate the form of the model posing before them on A3 paper
- Judging Criteria: accuracy of drawing/form, painting, and skill
- Limit per delegation: 2 participants

4. ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING
Individual Category
6 Hours
THEME: Spirals
- Delegates will draw and shade an area of the ISL campus where the architecture is
especially impressive or challenging to recreate (on A3 paper)
- Judging Criteria: drawing/form, shading, perspective
- Limit per delegation: 2 participants

5. CALLIGRAPHY
Individual Category
THEME: Eternity
8 Hours
- Delegates will create one piece (on A2 paper/boards) per round:
- Round 1: Roman Script (Greek/Latin)
- Round 2: Urdu/Arabic Script
- Delegates can use any quote, as long as it does not contain swearing or inappropriate
references, and has a meaning that can be explained and presented
- Judging Criteria: choice/meaning of quote, precision of lettering, choice of background,
shading and originality
- Limit per delegation: 2 participants

6. GRAFFITI
Team Category (2-5)
8 Hours
SENIOR: Through the Looking Glass
JUNIOR: Golden Era Cinema or Vintage Pop Art
- Delegates will be given a topic based on which they will have to paint and present their
canvas (3x3 ft)
- Judging Criteria: presentation/relevance, drawing, painting, creativity and choice of
medium
- Limit per delegation: 2 teams (1 per division)

7. COMIC ART
Individual/Team Category (1-3)
6 Hours
THEME: Villain/Hero Swap or Marvel/DC Crossover or Cartoon Catfish or Barbie vs
Bratz
- Delegates will be given a topic and dialogues on-spot, which they will make a 5 page
comic on. They can design their pieces digitally or physically (on A3 paper)
- For digital comics:
- Pre-designed templates will not be allowed
- Delegates will design their comic strip on an A3 size
- Softwares like Adobe Photoshop and Procreate are recommended
- Participants will update their category heads about their progress every 30
minutes
- Finished pieces will be submitted on a USB
- Judging Criteria: originality, creativity, drawing/shading and relevance to theme.
- Limit per delegation: 1 team

8. FANDOM WAR
Team Category (2-5)
8 Hours
THEMES: Characters from Fantasy, Horror/Thriller, Action, Sci-Fi, Period Drama,
Murder Mystery, Romance
- Round 1 (Minute-to-Win-it): Pictionary-style trivia with a study guide - art and
fandom/pop culture related. Delegates will have 1 minute to sketch and guess
questions/references on provided notepads. Each correct guess will be worth one point,
and will be added in the final piece.
- Round 2 (Fanart Crossover/Multiverse): Each guess will amalgamate to a final
crossover poster (on A2 paper/boards)
- Judging Criteria: timing/accuracy, creativity, originality, composition, shading
- Limit per delegation: 1 team

FASHION & DESIGN

9. FASHION
Team Category (2-5)
12 Hours
SENIOR: Schiaparelli Surrealism
JUNIOR: Eastern Folktales
- Delegates will be given a theme based on which they will illustrate 3 garments and 1
accessory on A3 papers. These will be presented on upright (3x3 ft) boards, with
write-ups and annotations
- (Illustration, Draping and Presentation): Delegates can choose to cut and drape their
designs on a provided mannequin.
- Judging Criteria: originality, proportions/drawing, shading, composition of board,
functionality, use of fabric/patterns/colour, and relevance to theme
- Limit per delegation: 2 teams (1 per division)

10. MAKEUP/COSPLAY
Individual/Team Category (1-3)
6 Hours
THEME: Disney Villains or Tim Burton or Wonderland
- Delegates will be given a theme on which they will design and execute makeup/cosplay
looks, e.g. Disney villains
- Round 1: Disney Villains or Tim Burton
- Round 2: Wonderland
- Judging Criteria: adherence to theme, skill and aesthetic appeal
- Limit per delegation: 1 team
Drama
1. Theatro (Play)

Team can consist of any number of delegates below or equal to


10. An institution may send only 1 team per delegation. There
shall be two rounds. Topic for round 1 is up to the delegates to
choose, they shall have to prepare a play before the event. Topic
for round 2 shall be provided at the end of round one, and
delegates will be expected to present a play the following day.

2. Improv

This would be an “on the spot round” where each team would be
alloted a topic and then be given 30 minutes to execute a
performance on stage.

3. Re-enactment

Teams would be shown a short clip from a movie or tv show, then


the team would have to come up and re-intact the scene, the
teams would be judged on accuracy, deliverance, and
presentation.

Themes for drama:

(for the first round the teams can pick from the pool of themes
while for the second round there will be one overarching theme)

Dance
1. Folk

Team can consist of a maximum of 3 and minimum of 1 delegate.


An institution may send only 2 teams per delegation. The song/
music that are danced upon should be of eastern origin.

Media
Photography – Team Category (3-5)
Delegates would have to present pre-captured photos on three given
topics(Distortion, erie, 1960s), which they will decorate a board with
and present in front of the esteemed judges. For round 2, they will
have capture on campus pictures on the topic architecture and submit
unedited pictures, they'll be judged on Content, Originality, Creativity,
Composition, Use of Light and adherence to the theme.

Digital Art – Individual Category


Delegates will have to design a poster/illustration on the topic given on
campus and will be judged the next day based on creativity, originality
and skills shown. For Round 2, Delegates would be assigned a fiction
Company of which they would have to design a logo for. They would
be judged on Creativity, Graphics and adherence to the theme.

Short Film Making – Team Category


Delegates would have to present a short film which should be shot,
written and edited by themselves of around 5-7 minutes prior to the
event. They would be judged on their creativity, camera angles, audio,
editing and adherence to the title. For Round 2, Delegates would be
assigned a company for which they would have to make remake an
advertisement. All teams would be given the same company. They
would be 8 judged on Productivity, Creativity, Originality, and
Adherence to the Product/theme

Music Society:

Category proposal;

Category one:

VOCALS (individual category)

Eastern:

Delegates will perform an eastern song/medley of their choice, a


backing track is allowed. The song/medley must only contain eastern
lyrics. Delegates will be judged on their pitch, vocals and crowd
response.

Time duration: 2-4 minutes

Western:
Delegates will perform a western song/medley of their own choice, a
backing track is allowed. The performance must only consist of
western lyrics. Delegates will be judged on their pitch, vocals and
overall crowd response.

Time duration: 2-4 minutes

Category two:

INSTRUMENTALS (individual category)

Delegates may choose a song of any origin, it is preferred that a


delegate brings their own instruments, backing tracks (without vocals)
are allowed. Delegates will be judged based on their ability to play
their respective instruments and crowd response.

Time duration: 6 minutes or under

Category three:

RAP BATTLE

Two teams with one representative, will be put head to head to prove
their rapping prowess. The fixtures as well as the beats will be
announced a day prior to the sub event. Delegates will be judged on
their flow and overall crowd response.

Language & Literary Society:


Category proposal;

Category One:
FAN-FICTION
An individual category where Delegates would have to rewrite the ending of famous literary
books/plays.

Category Two:
)‫ مشاعرہ (بزم ادب‬/‫بیت بازی‬
Team based category where fixtures two teams will decide who progresses to the next round.
The category will follow standard rules and procedures of an Urdu Mushaira.
Themes:

● Mita de apni Hasti ko agar kuch martaba chahe/ ‫مٹا دے اپنی حستی کو اگر کچھ مرتبہ چاہے‬
(contemporary philosophy)/ (‫)عصری فلسفہ‬

The second round will consist of team based Urdu quizzes related to classic Urdu literature

Category Three:
LITREASURE QUEST
Team based challenge where delegates would use deductive reasoning as well as their
knowledge of English literature to solve a mystery based on classical literature.

Culinary Society
Culinary Arts Category:

Day 1; Round 1

Round 1

Mystery Box Challenge

Theme: Contemporary European

- Delegates will be provided with a mystery box of ingredients.

- Delegates will have to use the mystery box ingredients only, to create a dish of their
choice.

- Time duration: 2.5 hours


Delegates/teams with the best dish will be awarded an immunity pin for the elimination
round on day 2

Day 2; Round 2 & 3

Round 2

Bake off

- Delegates are required to bake a dessert of their choice using an oven.

- Time duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Round 3

Blind-folded cheese test

- Delegates will be blind folded and asked to recognize different types of cheeses.

Delegate/team who received the immunity pin in round 1 have the advantage of
choosing not to participate in rounds 2 & 3.

Note: Elimination will be based on combined marks and judgment from both rounds 2
and 3.

Day 3; Round 4

Round 4

Smash-It Burger Challenge

- Delegates will be required to make burger frites of their choice

- Time duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Important Notes:

- For round 2 and 4 delegates are required to bring their own ingredients.

- An oven and stove will be provided.

- Delegates can participate as individuals or as a team of 2.


- In case of an emergency, basic ingredients will be provided.

- A minimum of 1 and a maximum team of 2 delegates are allowed for this category.

- For each round, delegates will be judged for creativity/concept of their dish, taste,
presentation, hygiene/cleanliness of their stations, time efficiency and confidence
explaining their dish to the judges.

- Though basic equipment such as pots and pans will be available, delegates are
strongly urged to bring their own cooking equipment.

- Delegates must also bring their own dish/plate for plating their food.
