Gross examination found the gallbladder specimen consisted of fragmented tissue measuring 7.0x4.0x3.2cm with a single large stone and multiple stones identified. The inner mucosa was ulcerated. 2.     Specimen: GALLBLADDER

    Clinical Findings: - Empyema gallbladder

    Electronically verified report. No signature required. Lab reports should be interpreted by a physician in correlation with clinical and radiologic findings.
    Gross: Specimen received in formalin consists of fragmented gallbladder (7.0x4.0x3.2cm). A single large stone is
    identified. Multiple stones are identified. Inner mucosa is ulcerated. Cystic duct resection margin is not
    identified. Representative sections are taken in two blocks as A1-2.
    Microscopy: Histological examination of the section reveals ulcerated gallbladder mucosa. Underlying wall shows
    mixed inflammatory cell infiltrate composed of neutrophils, lymphocytes, plasma cells and histiocytes.
    Areas of displacement of surface crypts into submucosa (Rokitansky Aschoff sinuses) along with areas of
    fibrosis are noted. Sheets of foamy histiocytes are also noted in the gallbladder wall along with areas of
    hemorrhage. No evidence of granulomatous or malignant process is seen.
    Diagnosis:
