CES Observes National Reading Month

Reading is the magic key, to take you where you want to be. – Alice Joyce Davidson

On the 27th day of November 2018, Cadaclan Elementary School, together with the
parents and barangay officials, culminate the month- long National Reading Month
Celebration with its highlight activity “Book Character Costume Contest”, along with the
nationwide synchronized story reading time at 9:00 AM.

Ma. Christina Gacayan and Caleb Isaac Valenton, pupils both from Grade I, grabbed
the first place for the Book Character Costume Contest portraying the characters Thumbelina
and Noah.

Moreover, certificates and incentives were also awarded to the pupils who made it to
the top on the contests done during the celebration. Ricci Guron of Grade III and Jezrone
Lumanog of Grade 5 won on the Bookmark Making Contest. Mart Judiel Apigo, Jonald Bob
Corpuz, Sherrie Anne Munar, and Azalean Grace Ducusin received the flying colors for the
Spelling Bee Contest which was participated by other 5 heterogeneous groups. Certificate of
appreciation was also given to Shanelle Lymiel Viluan and Meryknoll Peralta for donating
some reading materials as part of the Share-A-Book Campaign.

A story reading time was also allotted every after the conduct of the daily flag raising
ceremony which was participated by the advisers and parents as well.

“This year’s celebration posed big pressure at first on the time and effort of both
teachers and students, as well as to the parents, yet as we came near to the end of the activity,
everything went well. May this endeavor reminds us that reading is not only to be done
intensively on a specific month but to be observed all throughout the year.”, cited Mrs.
Jovelyn M. Barnachea, Head Teacher I. #

The launching of the celebration was done through reading of words written on boards,
identifying the title of the stories with the help of their theme songs, and a simple talk from
Mrs. Jovelyn M. Barnachea, our School Head. Simple sweet treats were given to the learners
who actively took part on the said activities.
