Method Statement (Hael)

1. Storage.

Store the received (uPVC) pipes and fittings at a safe and secure area to protect it from damage from
heat and other ongoing activities.

2. Ensuring availability of proper team and tools.

Confirm with Foreman that proper team of technicians and labors is available with proper tools and
equipment.

3. Raise request for survey.

Request a survey for establishing reference points, slope, depth etc.

4. Start marking.

Identify & Mark the outline of the precise locations where the drainage pipes will be installed. To
ensures accurate alignment and placement of the pipes according to the drainage design.

5. Raise request for sand/Fillings (quantity to be determined at site)

Determine the required quantity of sand or fill material based on site conditions and request its delivery
to facilitate the installation.

6. Start Excavation.

Begin digging trenches according to the marked locations, and predetermined levels to create a pathway
for the drainage pipes. The trench size should be of proper dimensional ratios and pre-determined
depth, taking into account complete piping network and slope.

Usually A trench of minimum width ‘200mm more than D’ and sand cover of 600mm is required.

7. Prepare sand bed.

For (uPVC) A sand bed of proper height needs to be prepared as per the Dia of the pipe, which usually is
0.5D to 0.7D. The slope of the drainage should also be taken care of during the process.

8. Install Pipes and fittings.

Once the excavation is complete, proceed with the installation of (uPVC) pipes and fittings as per the
approved design and specifications. In addition to uPVC Solvent, it would require special kind of joint
(usually butt welding) for therefore the same should be done at joints. a proper pipe cutting tool would
be required for smooth finished to achieve better welding results.

It is to be noted that the uPVC Solvent is completely dry, before proceeding further.
9. Inspect for flow and leakage.

After installing the pipes and fittings, inspect the system to ensure proper flow and check for any
potential leakage and checking of flow and the alignment of the fittings, it can be done by the following
ways:

 Visual Inspection- to check for alignments and positions of the pipe fittings.
 Flow Direction inspection- It can be done by introducing water or other liquid and manually
tracing the bath of the flow.
 Leakage test- For the (uPVC) pipes, Smoke test or pressure test can be done to check for any
sort of leakages.
 For the 250 Dia pressurized pipe going from Rendering plant to STP, Pressure test must be
performed.
 A pressure test is also recommended for pipes coming out of lifting stations.

10. Raise a request for inspection by consultant/client.

Request an official inspection to verify that the installation complies with regulations and standards
before proceeding further.

11. Cover, Backfill and Compaction.

After confirming that the pipes and fittings are installed correctly and meet the desired specifications,
Cover the piping work with sand or any fine aggregate, Fill the trench with backfill material. Compact in
layers to prevent settling and provide stability to the pipes.

12. Site clean-up.

Remove excess material from site & ensuring clean and safe work areas.

13. Precautionary measures during the concreting process.

During the laying of aggregate materials, compacting and concreting process it is to be made sure that
none of the fittings dislocate or mis-align.
