PLATE BOUNDARIES

The explanation is that plates move in a rotational

manner. The North American Plate, for example,
rotates counter-clockwise; the Eurasian Plate
rotates clockwise. Boundaries between the plates
are of three types: divergent (moving apart),
convergent (moving together), and transform
(moving side by side).
DIVERGENT PLATE BOUNDARY

Occurs when two

tectonic plates move
away from each
other.
CONVERGENT PLATE BOUNDARY
A convergent boundary is an
area on Earth where two or
more lithospheric plates
collide. One plate eventually
slides beneath the other, a
process known as subduction.
TRANSFORM PLATE BOUNDARY

Transform boundary, is a
fault along a plate
boundary where the
motion is predominantly
horizontal.
