CARING FOR COVID-19 POSITIVE

PATIENTS: THE CASE OF THREE

NURSES IN SOUTH COTABATO
As I read the article that was given to us, I have seen and read the
challenges that the nurses encountered during the COVID-19
pandemic. First is the unfair treatment. I do agree on this since
during then pandemic, we have seen how the nurses were not
treated fairly. Some people treat nurses like the doctor’s “sunod-
sunoran” only. We have to keep in mind that nurses are
professionals too and that they also need to be respected in their
own field. The second challenge was overworking. It is just so sad
to know that despite of the very minimal compensation given to
nurses; they are also being overworked. the third challenge was
the stress. Of course, as a student nurse, I know and experienced
also during our clinical exposure how stressful it is to work in the
hospital. From toxic patients to toxic watcher and even
sometimes, workmates. Lastly, is the lack of support. Nurses
nowadays are referred to as the modern heroes. However, they
were not being appreciated and support is still lacing. It seems
like their efforts were not noticed by the people and especially
the government.

I believe that these challenges affect globalization as whole

because the pandemic not only happened here in South
Cotabato, but around the globe. And the sad thing was, the same
reasons and challenges were experienced by the nurses around
the world. These also affected the globe in a way that trading and
especially the economy of the whole world dropped with a high
percentage and people from each country were greatly affected.

PATIENTS: THE CASE OF THREE
NURSES IN SOUTH COTABATO
I believe that as a future angel of the sickroom or should I say, a future nurse,
the challenges that I will greatly encounter in the contemporary world are
going to be the changing technology and the emotional instability. Changing
technology since as the technology is emerging, the knowledge of the nurses
is being left. Seminars and trainings must be conducted over and over again
so that the nurses will get to be familiarized with the new technology.
Emotional instability is because I believe that because of the stress, lack of
support, overworked, and unfair treatment, nurses in the future will also face
the same scenario which will lead to an unstable emotional health. With that
said, I hope that people will get to realize and appreciate the nurses more.
The things they are doing to save the lives of many. This is because if we get
to appreciate them now, the next generation will also do the same.
