Once upon a time, an alien visited Earth. He saw many things that he had never seen
before – trees and sunflowers, for example. He also discovered many new books that he
had never read before. Unfortunately, the alien locked himself out of his UFO and had to try
to get home by plane. But just as he was getting on the plane, a security guard stopped
him and said, “Sorry, no aliens allowed.”

I am sure you could write a better story than this. When using story dice, we can start by asking
two questions:
The images on the dice (= the icons) will mean different things to different people. Try this for
yourself. Look at the icons on the nine dice above and decide what they could represent. Write
your ideas in the box below.
Now you can start to look for connections between the dice. Try to connect two or
three dice and create an idea that is central to your story.
Your idea should include a main character. And it could introduce us to one of the following:
Now look again at the dice below. Think carefully about your idea and complete the following
sentence:
Now you can create a story with these dice that is better than the one on the other page. Plan it
first and then write it.
