What is a typhoon?
One of the strongest forces on Earth, a typhoon is a storm that
develops in warm tropical waters, has powerful howling winds,
heavy precipitation, and rotates or spins around a center
known as an eye. The names of typhoons, cyclones, and
hurricanes merely reflect where they are located; they are all
essentially the same.
