FACILITIES
THE BADMINTON COURT SHOULD BE;
DOUBLES - 44 FEET LONG BY 20 FEET
WIDE
SINGLES 44 FEET LONG BY 17 FEET
WIDE

IF THE FACILITY IS INDOORS, THERE

NEEDS TO BE ENOUGH HEIGHT FOR THE
SHUTTLECOCK TO BE ABLE TO FLOAT
ACROSS THE NET WITHOUT HITTING THE
CEILING.
PLAYING COURT
The area of play,as defined by the outer boundary lines.
RACKET
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOLS A
PLAYER
INSTRUMENT USED BY THE PLAYERS TO
HIT THE SHUTTLECOCK
MUCH LIGHTER THAN MOST OTHER
SPORTS RACKETS,Weighs about 80-100
grams w/ strings
The racket in its entirety is called a
frame.
PARTS OF THE RACKET
HEAD - area which bounds the stringed area ,
the shape of the head is generally oval;
‘isometric head’

IT STRINGS THAT ARE STRETCHED ACROSS THE OPENING OF

THE RACKET IN A CHECKERBOARD PATTERN, WHICH ACTS AS
THE HITTING SURFACE

THROAT - part of the racket which supports

the head by providing a steady base and
connects the head to the shaft.
PARTS OF THE RACKET
SHAFT - part of the racket which links the
handle to the head, or in some cases the
throat of the badminton racket.

HANDLE - bottom-most part of the racket

gripped by the player , arguably the most
important cog
GRIP
Replacement Grips are thicker and are often
used to increase the size of the handle.
Towelling grips are always replacement grips.

Overgrips are thinner (less than 1 mm), and are

often used as the final layer. Many players,
however, prefer to use replacement grips as
the final layer.
SHUTTLECOCK
• also referred to as a shuttle or
birdie.
• a high-drag projectile, with an
open conical shape: the cone is
formed from sixteen overlapping
feathers embedded into a rounded
cork base.
NET
• divides the badminton court into two sides.
• separate the playing areas for each player
or team and to facilitate fair play.
• the length may vary depending on whether
doubles or singles are palying, with singles
reaching 17 feet and doubles reaching 20
feet. the net is 30 inches wide with a 3-inch
white tape doubled over the top.
POSTS
The posts are used to hold the net in
place.
The posts are 1.55m high from the surface of
the court and remain vertical when the net is
strained.
SHOES
Badminton shoes are lightweight with soles of rubber or similar
high-grip, non-marking materials.
CLOTHING
Whole clothing (shirt and short) should be
comfortable. Playing clothes should be of a
short-sleeve shirt or T-shirt while the shorts
should be raised above the knees. The girls
may wear a skirt with cycling shorts inside.
Accessories may be added to the body for
certain use.
