Abstract

This talk delves into the dynamic realm of Bio-Terahertz, unveiling its potential to revolutionise biomedical research.
Terahertz technology's remarkable feature to non-invasively penetrate diverse materials, including biological tissues,
has catalyzed groundbreaking applications with far-reaching implications. By harnessing the power of terahertz
spectroscopy and imaging, Bio-Terahertz offers the ability to differentiate between cancerous and healthy tissues at
the molecular level. Moreover, the talk explores the fundamental principles behind terahertz-biomolecule
interactions, which contribute to a visionary outlook where terahertz techniques intertwine advanced imaging
modalities.

About the Speaker

Priyansha Kaurav received her B.Tech degree in electronics and communication engineering from the Indian
Institute of Information Technology, Design, and Manufacturing, Jabalpur, India, in 2015, M.Tech. degree in RF and
microwave engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India, in 2017, and a Ph.D. degree under
the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) from the Centre for Applied Research in Electronics,
IIT Delhi, in 2022. From 2017 to 2018, she worked for Qualcomm as an RFiC Design Engineer, contributing to
developing transceivers for the Snapdragon family. During her Post Doc, she was the group leader within the
terahertz remote sensing and imaging research group at the Institute for High-Frequency and Communication
Technology (IHCT), Wuppertal, Germany, from 2022 to 2023. As a project investigator, she is involved in two
German Research Foundation (DFG)-funded projects called "ESSENCE" and "KOSELLECK" that develop
near-field Terahertz imaging systems that can visualise fine (microscopic) structures within organic cells.
In her current role, she is working as an assistant professor in the Electronics and Communication department IIT
Roorkee. Priyansha’s primary research is centred around electronics Terahertz Sensors and biomedical imaging.
She has several high-quality publications and patents under her name. She has also co-authored a book on
“Sub-Terahertz Sensing Technology for Biomedical Applications” (ISBN:978-981-19-3140-6). In the field of
microwave, millimetre, and terahertz sensors and systems, she is a reviewer for several leading journals and
transactions.
