1. What are the different processes as well as strategies used in the pre-referral system in an inclusive
school?

Answer: The pre-referral process phases are as follows: Students is put through a universal
screening where struggling students are identified. The student is then moved to the second tier of
the RTI process where they are given an effective data based instruction. The student progress is
monitored regularly

2. What are the different assessment methods and tools used to identify the strengths, abilities,
needs, and placement of children with disabilities.

Answer: based on my research, the various assessments I have researched are Assessment Tools to
Identify Strengths in Students with Special Needs (and All Kids). these are as follows: Behavioral
and Emotional Rating Scale, Second Edition (BERS-2), The VIA Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS), Dunn
and Dunn Online Learning Style Assessments, Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets, Clifton
Youth Strengths Explorer, Torrence Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT), and Multiple Intelligences
Developmental Assessment Scales (MIDAS).

3. How are accommodations different from modifications?

Answer: An accommodation changes how a student learns the material. A modification changes
what a student is taught or expected to learn.

4. Why should parents of children with disabilities be involved in the process of planning and decision
making?

Answer: Parents play a big role in helping their children to be confident and enthusiastic learners –
helping kids believe they can do well at school, that trying hard and doing their best is important, as
well as helping them be organised, to navigate challenges and solve problems. This is what is meant
by parental engagement.
