[INTRO]

Kendrick: Good Morning, ladies and gentlemen, I'm Kuya Kendrick together with.

Raven: And I'm Kuya Raven. Welcome to Solar News, where we shed light on all things
(pause)
Kendrick and Raven: solar-related. (ase heart shape na kabesa pilit diatun dos)

Kendrick: Today, we're diving into the fascinating history and remarkable journey of
solar energy, from its ancient origins to its present-day.

[SEGMENT 1: ANCIENT SOLAR ENERGY]

Raven: Let's kick things off by going back in time to around 3100 B.C. to 30 B.C., when
ancient Egypt pioneered the use of solar energy through innovative methods. They
constructed homes that captured and stored solar energy during the day, releasing it
as heat at night, ensuring comfortable temperatures without overheating during the
day.

Kendrick: That's right, Kuya Raven. Moving forward to the 3rd Century B.C., we find
the Greeks employing solar energy in a rather unique way. Greek soldiers, with the
help of the great Archimedes, used mirrors to concentrate sunlight on Roman soldiers'
feet, causing burns and forcing them to retreat.
Raven: And in 100 A.D., Pliny designed a house with mica windows that collected solar
energy during the day and released it at night, reducing the need for wood heating.
Truly innovative for its time.

[SEGMENT 2: 19TH CENTURY INNOVATORS]

Kendrick: Now, let's fast forward to the 19th century. Visionaries like Horace Bénédict
de Saussure, Alexandre Edmond Becquerel, and August Mouchet made significant
strides in understanding solar energy and its applications.

Raven: Absolutely, Kuya Kendrick. And let's not forget Heinrich Hertz and Charles
Fritts, who contributed to the development of solar technologies during this era.
[SEGMENT 3: KEY MILESTONES]

Kendrick: Moving on to the 20th century, in 1921, Albert Einstein received the Nobel
Prize in physics for his groundbreaking work on the photoelectric effect, explaining
how light generates electric current, a key insight for solar energy.

Raven: And in 1954, researchers at Bell Labs achieved a major milestone by developing
the first practical silicon solar cell, paving the way for modern solar technology.

Kendrick: The mid-1950s brought us another remarkable achievement when architect

Frank Bridgers designed the first commercial solar-heated office building. This was a
historic moment in the adoption of solar energy.

[SEGMENT 4: MODERN SOLAR ERA]

Raven: The 1970s brought about a turning point when the oil crisis drove interest in
solar energy, leading to advances in photovoltaic technology and government support.

Kendrick: And in 1986, the world saw the inauguration of the world's largest solar
thermal facility in Kramer Junction, California, which used mirrors to concentrate
sunlight for electricity generation.

Raven: Fast forward to the present, and solar energy is rapidly becoming a dominant
renewable source, widely used in homes, businesses, and power plants around the
world.

[OUTRO]

Kendrick: That's a wrap on our journey through the history of solar energy, from
ancient Egypt to the modern era.
Raven: Join us next time on Solar News for more exciting updates on renewable
energy. I'm Kuya Raven.
Kendrick: And I'm Kuya Kendrick. Stay powered by the sun, everyone!
