INTRODUCTION

Project Overview

Recently, there has been an increasing number of complaints concerning the

PMA CCAFP’s Laundry Service as a solution, the developers decided to create a

system wherein the cadets could raise their issues regarding the said Laundry Service

provider of the PMA cadets. According to the upper-class cadets, the current Laundry

Service provider is far worse than the previous provider because a lot of items are not

being returned, white colored items are not washed properly and even the smell is

terrible. It has also been observed that there are a lot of items that are either missing or

returned with damages, for example; the cotton white pants are sometimes returned

with molds and muds and some white colored items are returned with rusts or stains,

colored items are returned with faded colors already and civilian clothes were usually

not returned, there are also instances wherein other items of other cadets are mixed

with other cadets’ laundries. The previously mentioned complaints are some of the most

common concerns that the cadets raise whenever the Logistic Council ask whether

there are concerns regarding the Laundry Service provider of the CCAFP.

The system would enable the cadets to list their sent laundries and give remarks

as to whether they receive their laundries completely or not, and if there are some

concerns such as returned damaged items or incorrect items that were returned to

cadets. The software will allow the cadets to give feedback on the performance of the

CCAFP Laundry Service provider for a specific date that they have sent their laundries.

It is user-friendly to facilitate those who are not so familiar in using system similar to it.
The system would be accessible to all cadets and to the laundry service employees.

The software will not just make both the client and the provider’s communication simpler

but will also make the Logistic Council Officers’ work easier by having a systematic way

of raising complaints.

During the past years, there has been a significant shift in the laundry subject,

from washing clothes at home to using coin-operated washing machines to preferring

the on-demand laundry services such as pick-up and drop-off. Consumers are valuing

convenience and gradually going for laundry services and dry cleaning to ease their

lives in doing chores. Laundry Services are becoming in-demand and is increasingly

becoming popular because of their efficient and convenient which may often including

booking via smartphones, picking up or sometimes being dropped-off and cleaning

depending on clients’ instructions. Customers may also be updated of their laundries’

status by logging into the provider’s app and could also get full delivery detail (Global

Dry-Cleaning And Laundry Services Market Size By Type, By End-User, By Geographic

Scope And Forecast, 2021).

Entrusting our valuable clothing to a unfamiliar person is frightening. Better to

have garments and less free time, than no clothes and even less free time. It seems,

from working publics and environments, that the larger the business with whom you

entrust your clothing, the higher the risk of outsourcing, which means that more steps

are added to clean, dry, and fold the laundry. In part due to outsourcing, many clienteles

have noticed that their experience with pick-up washing services have been

unsatisfactory. Clothes have been returned in worse conditions, or completely lost.

Those who have been the victims of poorly managed laundry service incidents are sure
to tell you that their woes only end when they outsourced customer service

representatives, and are without their clothing for a week or more at a time (Retail

Laundromat vs Pick-Up Laundry Service, n.d.).

Laundry management system (LMS) is new system that replaced the file system

which most of laundry shop used. LMS is developed in order to ease the management

in the laundry shop and to change the manual business process to the systematic

business process. The LMS is developed for the managers and staffs that rolled onto

the Laundry business (Zalilawati, 2008).

Laundry is a daily and laborious household chores. But, studies has seldom

studied the laundry sector, and the ways through which its business processes have

been redesigned via digital applications. Creating an automatic application for bringing

washing services to a client’s home will be useful, efficient and advantageous for both

services provider and customers (Bamasoud, et al., 2018).

The Laundry Management System is intended for any Laundry business to

replace their current traditional, paper-based system. The new system is in form of a

electronic system to record the following information; customer information, products,

services, users, carts and receipt. These services are to be provided in an well-

organized, cost efficient manner, having an objective of lessening the postponement

and resources presently mandatory for such works as clothes details are bounded to a

specific customer with a specified id. Since the present system makes use of

demanding administrative tasks, lots paper work and time, in which full info cannot be

taken from busy clients (Shoewu, Makanjuola, Phillips, & Emmanuel, 2016).
The laundry management system needs to be computerized to reduce human

errors and increase the efficiency. Laundry management system are designed to store

all information about customers and services offered. Laundry Management System has

to do with making appropriate effort to stop the rising problem to all manual laundry

operation in order to enhance the operation of such laundry. The software or system

that can be used to aid all laundries that is still operating manually have been

successfully developed. The software has a large memory of storing all the services in

the laundries and also keeping record it is highly effective and accurate (IBRAHIM,

2017)

According to O. Shoewu, N.T. Makanjuola, D.A. Phillips and A. Emmanuel

(2016), “Automation of the entire system improves the efficiency. It provides a friendly

graphical user interface which proves to be better when compared to the existing

system. It provides a friendly graphical user interface which proves to be better when

compared to the existing system. It gives appropriate access to the authorized users

depending on their permissions. It effectively overcomes the delay in communications.

Updating of information becomes so easier. System security, data security and reliability

are the striking features. The System has adequate scope for modification in future if it

is necessary.” Their project proposal wanted to offer an electronic method that is

pressure free, steadfast and quick through the use of system computer programming

language and SQL database application to the users and staffs in charge of the record-

keeping of clienteles and laundry supervision procedures. The goal of their proposal

was to put into operation a management system that will modernize recording process,
decrease administrative works and manual labor and to enhance the registration

sequence method.

The main objective of the project proposal is to automate the mean of giving

feedbacks of the cadets, listing of information such as cadet’s name, number and type

of sent items, date the laundries were sent and status of the laundries returned. It will

not just make the provider’s lives easier by having an automated record of information

of their clients but it could also make it convenient for the both parties to communicate

their concerns and queries.

Statement of the Problem

The PMA CCAFP’s Laundry Service Provider currently operate manually in recording

the cadets’ information such number of a sent laundries, type of sent laundries, date

sent and who sent it. Cadets send their laundries twice a week and every time cadets

send their laundries, employees of the laundry service provider are required to keep

details of these sent laundries manually. This traditional way of handling their clients

created havoc in sorting their clients’ clothes and resulted in either lost of items or

incomplete quantity of returned laundries. The following are the usual questions that the

cadets ask concerning the CCAFP Laundry System:

1. Is there an easy way on how to raise the concerns of the cadets regarding the

returned laundries and the performance of the PMA CCAFP’s Laundry Service?

2. Can each of the concerns/complaints of the cadets regarding the CCAFP’s

Laundry service be sorted systematically?

3. Is there a way that the recording of items be automatically made for the Laundry

Service providers for an efficient and effective record-keeping?

Objective of the Study

The conduct of this project aims to create a software wherein users would be

able to give their feedbacks regarding the PMA’s Laundry Service. Purposely, the

objectives are to attain the following:

1. To create and develop a user-friendly software that cadets could use to

give feedback to the weekly performance of the PMA CCAFP’s laundry

service.

2. To gather complaints and problems regarding the returned laundries of

cadets easier and more systematic for the Logistic Officers to compile and

make reports.

3. To help the PMA’s Laundry Service know what are their impediments in

their services and performances to be improved and for them to answer

queries and concerns quicker.

Significance of the Study

To the CCAFP. This project proposal will create a user-friendly Microsoft Access

program that the PMA cadets could use to give feedback about their returned clothes,

whether it is complete or not or if the returned items have damages. The program will

also enable the cadets the to list the items they have sent, enumerate the items that are

not returned to them or items that were returned but has damages and items that was

given to them but are not their belongings. The cadets would be able to raise their

concerns directly to the Laundry Service and could even ask where did their missing

laundries went with proof because the program also contains the list of their sent

clothes.
Developers. The developers, upon finishing the proposal would be able to help solve

the problem concerning the CCAFP’s Laundry System. The developers will not just be

able to comply their academic requirement but would also aid the Logistic officers in

dealing with the increasing number of complaints from the cadets every time sent

laundries are returned.

To PMA Laundry Service. The PMA Laundry Service providers would be immediately

informed as to whether there are concerns or complaints raised by the cadets regarding

their recently returned items. They would easily access the system and know the

feedbacks and queries from their customers. The providers could also reply and react

instantly to the feedbacks without wasting time in going back and forth to the campus

area.
