According to recent reports, demand for Apples in Nepal is

150000 metric tons but over 87150 metric tons of Apples are
imported to match the domestic demand. This is an opportunity
waiting to be exploited. Hence, Mustang Apples pvt. Ltd was
established to fulfill the demand of the market and make profits
along the way.

Capital city of Mustang; Jomsom is a feasible place to cultivate

Apples. The appropriate climate provides a good environment for
the cultivation of Apples. Recent estimates from the District
Agriculture Development Office, Jomsom predict that there is
Apple farming in 1200 hectares. For many years, apple orchards
bearing 60 to 80 tonnes of Apples per hectare per season was
considered economically viable but nowadays 120 tonnes per
hectare per season has become the norm due to better agriculture
practices.
Looking at the feasible situation, the objectives were set. They
are:

1. Cultivation of Fuji Apples in 5 hectares of Land and procure

a pre-existing farm of 5 hectares . Order a sapling (baby
tree) from a reputable nursery in spring according to the
requirement.

2. Baby trees of Apples take 2-3 years to bear fruits. Hence, the
estimated target of production in the first year to be 600
tonnes from procured farms.

Product Mix:

Brand : Mustang Apples pvt. Ltd

Brand Name:Mustang Apples
Brand Mark:

1. Mustang is really famous for Apples. For the Apples to be

straight from Jomsom is a plus point. Hence, Mustang
Apples is a short, easy to pronounce and suggestive brand
name which is distinctive from pre-existing brands.Fuji
Apples from Jomson are easy to advertise due to its special
status and regional popularity. Mustang Apples is a really
good brand name in this context.

2. The brand name will help customers to identify the

legitimacy of our product and ensure the quality due to the
identity of the region. The brand name itself will reflect the
status symbol for the customers which is a plus point for
better advertisement.

3. Proper labelling of the brand label and grade label will help
customers with valuable information. Description of the
nutritional values and health benefits of consuming Fuji
Apples from Mustang Apples will be conveyed from
advertisement.

4. Reusable wooden boxes will be arranged to safely package

the apples which can then be transported with care and
easily distributed due to proper packaging.

Price Mix:

1. A normal consumer has to pay around 300 rupees for a

kilogram of Fuji Apples from the vendors in streets and
shops. They usually procure the items from a wholesaler
which means a customer has to go through a Indirect two
level channel or sometimes three level channel. We will
provide the customers with a One level Indirect Channel of
distribution which will significantly reduce the price.

2. Due to the requirement of initial investment to kick start

our business, the profit margin will be razor thin when
compared to the product cost. These benefits of price will
persuade the customers to buy our goods and we predict a
decrease in production cost in future due to the added
benefit of higher production in coming days.

3. The region we are targeting; Kathmandu valley is the

hotspot of cultural diversity and healthier lifestyle
movement. Both of these aspects boost the demand for our
goods.
4. The retail market of Apples is dominated by small street
vendors who rely on hefty profit margins for survival. This
creates a perfect situation for our business to flourish.

5. The government has announced that 2,100 pocket areas,

blocks and zones would be developed across the country,
including 600 along the Postal Highway, 200 along the
Mid-hill Highway and their feeder road sections, to
enhance agriculture production. Such areas will be spread
over at least 10 hectares of land. The positive attitude of the
government towards agriculture has boosted our future
prospects of growth.

Promotion Mix:

1. Our business strategy is to advertise our product through

newspaper articles mentioning the health benefits of Apples
and describing the modern agriculture methods used in
production.

2. Every retail store of Mustang Apples across Kathmandu

Valley in accessible locations will be decorated properly to
give ourselves a distinctive identity.
3. Each retail outlet will be handled by a manager
commanding well trained personal sellers to advertise the
quality of service.

Place Mix:

1. Order Processing will be done directly through the easily

accessible stores around the Kathmandu Valley or from our
official online store which provides the service of home
delivery with added service charge.
2. It takes about 7 hours to reach Jomsom from Kathmadu.
Due to our robust vision, we can procure commercial vehicle
loans at low interest rates and no security to finance our
logistical demands.

3. We will pick the apples when they’re slightly unripe, treat

them with a chemical called 1-methylcyclopropene, wax
them, box them, stack them on pallets, and which will allow
us to keep them in cold storage warehouses for an average
of 9-12 months. Consumers can remove these preservatives
by merely washing the apple.

4. Due to the use of safe and very effective preservatives, we

can provide goods to the customers at a feasible rate
throughout the year. Our vision allows us to facilitate
ourselves with an excessive quantity of stock to match the
demand of a region which consumes a lot of Apples and are
highly sought after during the festive season.
