Discuss Maritime Law and how IMO was part of making laws at sea

In studying Marine Transportation and pursuing a Maritime Career, knowing all the rules,
regulation as well as the laws in maritime industry is important. In this industry IMO developed Maritime
Law, also known as admiralty law. It is a specialized legal framework that controls and governs various
operations and problems in navigation, shipping, and in maritime industry. Maritime law also covers
vessel registration, maritime certifications, cargoes, marine insurance, other operations, and take over
maritime accidents. IMO or International Maritime Organization is a specialized agency pf the United
Nation that is established in 1984. It was established to develop and uphold a comprehensive regulatory
framework for shipping that promotes edfectiveness, security, safety, and environmental preservation.
IMO was also a part of making laws at sea, they influenced the international maritime law. They develop
conventions and treaties like MARPOL and SOLAS as well as the guidelines and codes of practice that
provide detailed instructions on implementing the conventions and treaties. They are also the one
responsible for amendments and updates of conventions and regulations as needed. IMO was also the
one who assist member states in enhancing their maritime legal capabilities by providing technical
assitance, training and resources. IMO helps establish uniform international standards that improve
safety, security, and enforcing maritime laws globally
