and put it inside the sanitation box sanitation box and put their assignments)

B. Reviewing previous lesson or

presenting the new lesson

Before we move on to our next

lesson, let us first have a short recap
of our previous topic, “Living Things
and Non-Living Things”

Who wants to give a short review of

what we discussed last week?

Yes, _____, do you want to share (Answers may vary)

something about our previous
discussion?

Thank you for enlightening the class

and I hope that you really understand
it because it will help you in dealing
with our next topic

So now, as we proceed to our new

lesson. Let us have this game called
“Four Pics One Word”

All you have to do is to guess the

word based on the given pictures

In this game, I will present you four

pictures and then tasks you with
guessing what specific word fits with
the theme of the photos presented.

C. Establishing a purpose for the

lesson

The activity that we had is associated

with our today’s lesson.

Everybody, kindly read the following (Students will read the objectives of the
lesson).
objectives.

At the end of the lesson, the students

must have:
1. Differentiated the different layers of
the Earth;
2. Noted the distinct features of the four
layers of the Earth;
3. Create a model of the layers of the
Earth.

D. Presenting examples/instances of
the new lesson.

E. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills #1

We will now proceed to the brief

discussion of our topic, Earth layers,
so the you will be able to identify the
different layers of the Earth.

The Earth is divided into four main

layers
 Inner core
 Outer core
 Mantle
 Crust

Crust- The earth’s outermost surface

is called the crust. The crust is
relatively light and brittle. Most
earthquakes occur within the crust.

Lithosphere is made up of the Crust

and the Moho.

Two types of crust

1. Oceanic Crust
2. Continental Crust

Mantle- The mantle is relatively flexible

so it flows instead of fracturing. This is
the largest layer of the Earth.

The mantle is divided into two regions:

the upper and lower sections.

Outer Core- Fluid layer that contains

iron. When it flows it generates the
Earth’s Magnetic field.

Inner Core- Solid inner most layer of the

Earth.

The four layers of the Earth are crust, mantle,

Okay class, who can name the four main outer core and inner core.
layers of the Earth that you have learned
today?

Very good!

Let’s give _______ ang galing galing

clap!

Yes, Ma’am
Do you understand the different layers of
the earth?

None, Ma’am
Do you have any questions or
clarification about it?

F. Developing Mastery

Since you no longer have any

questions and everything is clear to
you, let us proceed to our next
activity.

__________, please read the

direction.

Direction:

Class, is the direction clear to you? Yes, Ma’am

You are going to write your answers

on the answer sheets that I will
distribute so you only need to get your
ball pen. Upon receiving the answer
sheets from me, do sanitize your
hands.
1. Earth’s interiors are divided into
layers. What are the four divisions, in
order, of least dense to most dense? (The class will answer the activity.)
A. Atmosphere, surface, interior, outside
B. Crust, mantle, outer core, inner core
C. Mantle, core, atmosphere, center
D. Nucleus, crust, mantle, core

2. Which substance would be the best

model for the mantle?
A. Clay
B. Hard ball
C. Aluminum foil
D. Cotton balls

3. Which substance would best model

the thickness of the crust?
A. Crust
B. Hard ball
C. Aluminum foil
D. Cotton balls

4. Which of the earth’s layers do the

tectonic plates move on top?
A. Lithosphere
B. Asthenosphere
C. Mesosphere
D. Outer core

5. Earth can be divided into layers based

on chemical composition. The three
compositional layers of Earth are the
core, the mantle and the crust. Which
of theses answers best describes the
core?
A. the innermost part of Earth below the
mantle
B. the solid outer layer of Earth above
the mantle
C. the hot, slow-flowing layer of material
beneath the crust

Class, are you done? Yes, Ma’am

It seems that everyone is ready, so at

this juncture let us check your activity

_______, read and answer number 1.

Very good, _______ your answer is

correct

______, please read and answer item

This time, let us find out if you have

mastered the key concepts of this
lesson by trying out this activity.

Let me read the direction for you

Directions: Create a poster that labels (Students will get their notebooks and starts
and describes the 4 layers of Earth. writing).
Use the rubric below as your guide.

I will put the rubric that will serve as

your guide for this activity.

I will give you 10 minutes to answer the

activity.

Time check, you only have 2 minutes

left
