Phase 2 Supply Chain Track (Project Simulation)
Review and select one of the following topics and develop a solution that addresses the challenge question. In this phase, students will also be
required to do their own research and take what you have learnt from the online learning of the Supply Chain track in phase 1.
Once you have selected your topic you will have until 16th August 2023 at 11:55pm (US Eastern Time) to research and work on your project and
submit your presentation. The project submission will be in the form of a 3-to-5-minute recorded video presentation and upload to the
Schneider Student Experience platform.
Please select one of the following challenge questions (more details in the following slides):
Question 1: Innovation on circular economy
Every year, millions of tons of goods or reusable products in the world are scrapped for multiple reasons. Many of them are not for good
reasons. We have the same challenge for packaging.

Question 1: Innovation on circular economy
The Challenge: How can we disrupt the business and bring innovation to this problem?
• Many products could have a second life or benefit somebody somewhere.
• They may be brand new, already used or damaged but still working.
• But there are ‘excuses’ such as logistical constraints or costs to manage these products.
• Can we stop making excuses and find sustainable solutions?
• The massive quantity and cost of packaging is a Supply Chain Dilemma.
• We all know the concept of Reduce, Re-use and Recycle.
• But is there a new way of looking at it or improve it, because there is a still long way to go?
The project submission will be in the form of a 3-to-5-minute recorded video presentation on the Student Experience platform.

Question 2: Net zero carbon emission
Define practical ways for Global Supply Chain to embrace CO2 as a new “currency” in decision-making processes, and
as a key topic in Global Supply Chain governing instances’ agenda.
• Global climate is at threat and alarming reports multiply every day; Supply Chain has a significant impact.
• Key multi-stakeholder platforms discuss utmost critical needs to make global supply chain more low-CO2 & circular: World Economic
Forum/Davos, Gartner, Ellen McArthur, EU, UNEP, etc
• Schneider Electric Supply Chain wants to continuously lead the change: Smart Factory, RE100, Circular programs, etc
• Our Climate Week NYC’s commitments are bold: they need to be operationalized in Global Supply Chain => we are committed to place
our key decisions (Long Term Supply Chain Plan; Network modelling; Industrialization decisions; Other key Business Continuity Indexes,
etc) under a CO2 light, with an internal price to CO2
The project submission will be in the form of a 3-to-5-minute recorded video presentation on the Student Experience platform.

Question 3: Smart factory, Industry 4.0
What is the next step of innovation and digitization to further drive safety, quality and productivity in Schneider Electric factories and
distribution centers? What do you propose to position Schneider Electric as an Amazon equivalent company in the Energy Management
and Automation industry?
Context: Smart Factory offers clear end benefit integrating Operating Technology and Information Technology as follows.
1. Agile management 4. Energy and reliability
Driving faster and better decisions to help improve customer satisfaction and service Reduced energy consumption, costs and carbon footprint, and improved power
speeds. monitoring through real-time insights and connected meters.
You are encouraged to do your own research in order to address the question and propose
a business solution. Here are some resources to get you started:
