Introduction:- Dhaka, the vibrant capital of Bangladesh, has long grappled with a relentless traffic nightmare that choked

its arteries, hindered economic growth, and hampered

the quality of life for its residents. In response to these challenges, the government embarked on a monumental infrastructure project known as the Dhaka Elevated Expressway.

Project Scope:-The Dhaka Elevated Expressway spans approximately 19.73 kilometers(11km till farmgate), running from Shahjalal International Airport in the north to Kutubkhali
in the south. This impressive engineering marvel comprises a network of elevated roadways, ramps, flyovers, and interchanges strategically positioned to provide seamless
connectivity across the city.
Innovative Design:-One of the standout features of this expressway project is its innovative design. To minimize land acquisition and reduce disruption to existing structures,

An elevated expressway is a type of road or highway that is built above ground level, often using elevated structures such as bridges, viaducts, or ramps designed to provide a high-
speed and efficient transportation route for vehicles reducing travel times for commuters and cargo. Dhaka Elevated Expressway in Bangladesh's first elevated expressway project
stretching from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Kutubkhali of Dhaka-Chattogram Highway. The 19.73km expressway costs tk. 8940 crore with a total length of 46.73 km
including the connecting roads. A major part of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway will finally open to traffic in 2 September 2023 to ease the capital's perennial traffic congestion
partially. Once the 11-kilometre section from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Farmgate opens to traffic, it will serve as an alternative route to and from the airport
road, one of the busiest in the city. Besides, the expressway will be off- limits to three-wheelers and motorcycles. The rest of the 19.73km expressway is expected to open next
year. Commuters will have to pay tolls to use the expressway, which is also the first project in the transport sector being under the implemented Public-Private Partnership model
with foreign investment.
