Grant Telenko

After watching this video, I do agree with him. Although I think there are many great

leaders, male and female, he makes very good points. His first point stating how men struggle to

find the difference in confidence and competence is great and I never thought of it. It makes so

much sense because I think most men just think confidence is the main factor when it comes to

becoming a leader when, it’s actually not very important at all, especially when you lack

competence. His points relate to the bases of power because they get their power from the people

that support them. When people are very confident in what they do, it can hide the fact that they

aren’t the best fit for the job, leading to a poor job done when in power. I think this relates a lot

to Fiedler’s theory of leadership because it states that an effective leader must be fit for the

situation. When people are looking for a political or powerful figure in a desperate time, they

tend to lean towards a confident leader, giving people the most hope for the best outcome.
