ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 02

MAJOR PLATE # 1
TITLE: A PEDRIATIC CLINC WITH RESIDENCE

Objectives:
● Understand design architectural forms applying the principle of Anthropometrics,
Ergonomics, Behavioral Settings, Activity Analyses, Spatial Analyses in solving design
problem.
● Identify and understand relevant building laws and regulations applicable to the
given problem for their design output.

I. PROJECT TITLE (and General Description)


“A Proposed 2-Storey Pediatric Clinic with Residence”

II. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:


A couple practicing pediatric medicine decided that its two thousand square
meter(2,000 sq.m) located somewhere in Quezon City shall host a clinic and
residence.

III. DESIGN OBJECTIVES


a. To design a pediatric clinic that also functions as dwelling of the couple
with their living space located above.

IV. DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS


a. Function and Efficiency
b. Vertical and horizontal circulation patterns
c. Architectural character and form
d. Aesthetics and landmark quality
e. Solar, wind, noise, odor and view orientations
f. Amenities, Facilities, Services and Utilities
g. Security and Safety Features
h. Compliance with prevailing laws on health care, the NBCP, the Fire Code
and the Accessibility Law
i. natural and artificial ventilation where applicable
j. building’s exterior shall be along modern lines/styles fused with select
Filipino design elements.

V. PROJECT SITE FEATURES:


The 2,000.0 sq.m Total Lot Area/TLA (reference Figure 1) is rectangular and is an
inside (or regular) lot. It is located along a fifteen (15.0) m wide street. It has a forty-meter
(40.0 m) wide frontage that faces the south and a depth of fifty (50.0) m. The site is
relatively flat with two-point four (2.4) m wide sidewalks on either side. The surface of the
sidewalk shall be considered as elevation 0.0 m.
To the left of the Project site is a private office building. To its right is a commercial
building and directly across the street are two (2.0) videoke bars and a restaurant-bar
with live band performances. To the rear of the Project site are two point five (2.5)- storey
townhouse residences.
VI. DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
The stated Project requirements are as follows.
Pediatric Clinic (Ground Floor)
a. Parking Space
b. Reception (Waiting Area, Play Area)
c. Patient Exam and Treatment Areas
· Exam Room (2 rooms)
· Observation Room (1 room)

d. Support
· Medication preparation area -should be enclosed to minimize distractions.
A glass wall or window may be provided to observe patients and clinic
activities
· Equipment Storage Area
• Staff Area - Optimize staff efficiency and performance by providing
decentralized support spaces (e.g. charting, supplies, medications and
equipment). Keep staff travel distances to a minimum.
• Pantry Area
• Handwashing station/sink
• Common Toilets (male and female)
• Utility Room
• Garbage Room (medical waste)
• Fire Exits

VII. DRAWING REQUIREMENTS

a. Site Development Plan at scale 1:200 meters (M) and showing the following key
information:
• outline of the building footprint;
• accessibility features (disabled);
• site perimeter security features e.g. perimeter wall/ fence,
• gate, pedestrian/ vehicular barriers, guard outpost (as necessary), etc.;
• pedestrian access systems;
• open parking, driveway and parking ramps (as needed);
• call out/indicate areas to be landscaped (hardscape and softscape);
• the street, particularly the sidewalks;
• the adjoining land uses; and
· indicate the northing and the directions of the sunpath, the major
winds (habagat and amihan), sources of noise and odors and
available views (if any are clearly identifiable).

c. Floor Plans at scale 1 :100 M; provide T&B fixtures, furniture/ equipment
layouts, if rooms/areas are typical, provide furniture layout only for a
representative room/area to save time; highlight all introduced accessibility
features and fire exits;

:100 M (referencing the 0.0 m sidewalk elevation); Sections must be along the
stairs.

In lieu of the standard specifications for the Architectural Design subject, the
following will be accepted:
· 15x20 buff paper (use the non-glossy side), Drafted wherever
possible
· Scaled
· Pen Ink and Rendered, and marker for final presentation
· North Arrow-where applicable
· Paper Orientation landscape
· Provide proper/given format for the title block
