MODULE 3: Higher Order Thinking Skills through IT-based Projects

Intended Learning Outcomes:


At the end of the module, the students are expected to;
1. Know the IT-based projects
2. Appreciate the importance of having IT-based projects
3. Answer the questions provided briefly and concisely.

What comes into your mind when you hear the term "IT-Based Projects"?

Acquire New Knowledge:


This lesson focuses on the four types of IT-based projects that effectively develop a higher level of
thinking.

These projects can be effectively used to promote engagement among students

These projects support the constructivist approach to teaching

Key Elements of the Constructivist Approach

The teacher creates the learning environment

The teacher gives students the tool and facilities

The teacher facilitates learning

Research-Based Projects

The teacher steps out of the role of being an information provider, instead letting students find their own
facts and information
Simple Creations

 Focused on planning, making, assembling, designing, and building simple crafts

Skills Necessary for Simple Creations

 Analyzing - analyzing and collating the data available


 Synthesizing - begin thinking of a real-life application of the data gathered
 Designing - creating a blueprint of your available data into a simple model or craft

Guided Hypermedia

 Production of self-made multimedia projects


 Can be approached in two different ways

Constructive Tools - Usage of photos, video clips, audio, interviews, etc.


Instructive Tools - Usage of PowerPoint presentations for a specific topic/theme
Web-Based Projects

 Integration of the internet for implementing these activities


 Sample activities may include the creation of websites/webpages, blog posts, etc.

Application:
Answer the following briefly and concisely (25 pts):
Look for the definition, and an example for the following:
1. simple creations
2. guided hypermedia
3. web-based projects

Assessment:
Answer the following questions briefly and concisely

Using Wix, create a simple website for a chosen topic in teaching Social Studies

Criteria:
