DAILY LESSON LOG OF M11GM-Ih-i-1 (Week Eight-Day One)

School Grade Level Grade 11

Teacher Learning Area Mathematics
Teaching Date and Time Quarter First
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary procedures
must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities may be done for developing content
I. OBJECTIVES knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment Strategies. Valuing objectives support the
learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives
shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of functions.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving functions.
Learning Competency: solves logarithmic equations (M11GM-Ih-i-1)
Learning Objectives:
C. Learning Competencies/ 1. Enumerate different techniques in solving logarithmic equations
Objectives 2. Solve for the solutions of logarithmic equations by applying appropriate technique
3. Demonstrate appreciation of understanding properties of logarithms as important skills needed to
solve logarithmic equations.
II.CONTENT Functions

These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that pupils/students will learn well.
Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/ students which you can infer from formative assessment activities.
IV. PROCEDURES Sustain learning systematically by providing pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice the learning,
question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous
knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
Review: Convert the following logarithmic equations to exponential form.
a.) log 10 000 = 4
1
b.) log √ 10 =
2
c.) log 2 256 = 8
d.) log 4 256 = 4
A. Review previous lesson
e.) ln 1 = 0

f.) log (x+2) = 3
lesson
Present this problem:
4
Drew said that the equation log 2( x +1) = 8 cannot be solved because he expanded (x +1)4
= x4 + 4x3 + 6x2 + 4x +1, and realized that he cannot solve the equation x 4 + 4x3 + 6x2 + 4x +1 = 28. Is he
correct? Explain how you know.

B. Establishing a purpose The teacher tells the students that they will learn different techniques in solving logarithmic
for the lesson equations.

Form the students into groups with three members. Ask them to study and answer their assigned
materials. (see attached materials)
C. Presenting examples/
instances of the new
Student A: Using One-to One Property of Logarithmic Equations
lesson
Student B: Rewriting Logarithmic Equations to Exponential Form
Student C: Applying Basic Properties of Logarithmic Functions

D. Discussing new After the allotted time, allow them to discuss each material to the group and think of the different
concepts and practicing techniques in solving logarithmic equations.
new skills #1
E. Discussing new Ask them to answer the main problem as a group. You may call random groups to explain their
answers in front.

new skills #2
Answer: (Answer: 2 8 = (x+1) 4
x=3

F. Developing mastery What should we look for when examining a solution to see if it is extraneous in logarithmic equations?
(leads to formative -We cannot take the logarithm of a negative number or 0, so any solution that would result in the
assessment 3) input to a logarithm being negative or 0 cannot be included in the solution set for the equation.

G. Finding practical
applications of concepts
and skills in daily living
Have students summarize the process they use to solve logarithmic equations.
1. If an equation can be rewritten in the form log b u = log b v for an expression u and v, then
the fact that the logarithmic function are one-to-one gives u=v. Solve this resulting equation
H. Making generalizations and check for extraneous solutions.
and abstractions about 2. If an equation can be rewritten in the form log b A = C for an expression A and a number C,
the lesson then apply the definition of the logarithm to rewrite b C = A. Solve the resulting equation and
check for extraneous solutions.
3. Apply the logarithmic properties.

Find all solutions to the following equation. Remember to check for extraneous solutions.
1.) log 2(1−x) = 4
2.) log 3 ( ¿ x + 4)=log 3 (¿ 2 x−4)¿ ¿
I. Evaluating Learning
3.) 5 log 2(3 x +7)=0
4.) log ( x−1 ) + log (x−4 ) = 1

J. Additional activities or
remediation
V. REMARKS
Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress. What works? What else needs to
VI. REFLECTION be done to help the pupils/students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you
meet them, you can ask them relevant questions.
A. No. of learners who earned

B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation who scored below
80%
C. Did the remedial lesson work?
No. of learners who have
caught up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue
to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/ discover
which I wish to share with
other teachers
