OBJECTIVES : Upon completion of this practical, students should be able to:-

a) Able to construct op-amp circuit for the following configuration:-
i) Inverting amplifier
ii) Non-inverting amplifier
b) Determine the voltage gain (Av) or gain of closed loop (Acl) using
oscilloscope
c) Determine the phase angle for the output waveform using
oscilloscope

EQUIPMENTS : Function Generator

Oscilloscope & Probe
Op-Amp 741
Dual power supply
Resistor 10KΩ,100KΩ, 33KΩ
Cable jumper

THEORY
An op-amp is a high gain, direct coupled differential linear amplifier. Figure 3.1 shows the op-
amp symbol.

Figure 3.1: Symbol of Op-Amp

Op-amp can be used to form a difference circuit configuration for various type of application. The
most common op-amp circuits are inverting amplifier, non-inverting amplifier, integrator and
differentiator amplifier. Figure 3.2 and Figure 3.3 represent the respective circuit configuration

PROCEDURES:

A. POWER SUPPLY +VCC AND –VCC

1. Set power supply +15V for both side supply as operational amplifier requirement as
shown in Figure 3.4 and Figure 3.5.

B. INVERTING AMPLIFIER

Figure 3.6 : Schematic of Inverting Op-Amp

1. Connect the circuit as shown in Figure 3.6 by using UA 741CN.

2. Adjust the function generator’s output voltage at 2 Vpp and the frequency at 1kHz.
3. Apply power supply to the circuit.
4. Use the oscilloscope to observe the input and output waveform. Record the result in
Table 3.1.
5. Using the formula given, calculate the Output Voltage (Vo) and Closed Loop Gain (Acl
/Av)
