A. Drill
B. REVIEWING PREVIOUS LESSON OR PRESENTING THE NEW LESSON
Review previous lesson about writing the past form of regular verb.

Direction: Write the correct past form of the following regular verbs.

1. Maria (dance, danced) in the program last month.


2. The family (watch, watched) the fireworks at the plaza last year.
3. We (visit, visited) our grandparents in the farm last week.
4. Yesterday, Dan ( help, helped) me with my assignments.
5. Last Christmas eve mother (bake, baked) cheese cakes and butter scotch.

C. ESTABLISHING THE PURPOSE TO THE LESS: Have the pupils mention the underlined
word in each sentence. Ask “ What do these words tell us?” What do you think does
these time signals indicate? When do you think the action takes place?

D. PRESENTING EXAMPLES/ INSTANCES OF THE NEW LESSON


Ask the pupils: “ What was the most memorable/ useful gift you had received on your
birthday?”
Say: “Today, we are going to read a dialog.
Find out what gift did Rico received on his birthday.” Why did he consider it very
useful?”
Reading of the dialog found on page 205.
Ask: What gift did Rico received on his birthday.
Did Rico find it useful? Read line to prove your answer.
If You were Rico will you also ask for a cellphone? Why/ why not?
If not a cell phone what will you ask?
Give pupils 8 minutes to draw in a bond paper 2 gifts they want then label
the price of the gifts.
Write 1-2 sentences to justify why they want/need to have it.
Have the pupils realize the difference between need and want.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # 1


Go back to the dialog previously read. Have the pupils identify the underlined words.
Ask about the time when the action/event happened. “If action is done in the past
what tense of the verb are we going to use.

F. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS # 2


Discuss about the rues in forming the irregular past tense of the verb.

Divide the class into 5 groups have them answer Exercise 1 on page 206.

H. MAKING GENERALIZATIONS AND ABSTRACTIONS ABOUT THE LESSON


How are the past tense of irregular verb form?
(Help pupils formulate the generalization.)

Directions: Choose the correct form of irregular verb in the parenthesis to complete the
following sentence. Write the correct answer on your paper.
1. Dan and Marie (come, came) to the program just in time for the program this morning.
2. Father ( leave, left) the door open last night.
3. My cousin ( give, gave) me a new bag during my birthday last year.
4. Afraid of the dog, my brother ( ran, run ) home crying.
5. My uncle (drive, drove) us to the city last weekend.

K. Assignment:
Distribute worksheet to pupils to be answered at home.
