CANAYONG, XYNE ESIO, JAZCEL EMLAW, JOHN

GROUP 2
PRESENTORS
TERADO, HANNAH TIU, JOHN PAUL
After completing
the lessons, the
students should 2. Draw the
symbols for
logic gates
be able to:
NOT, NAND,

1. Identify and
explain the
function of the
and NOR
3. Develop truth
tables for the
logic gates
logic gates NOT, NAND,
NOT, NAND, and NOR
and NOR

Learning
Objectives
Lesson 4:
LOGIC NOT GATE
WHAT IS LOGIC NOT GATE?
The digital Logic NOT Gate is the most basic of all the
logical gates and is sometimes referred to as an
Inverting Buffer or simply a Digital Inverter.

Lesson 5:
LOGIC NAND GATE
WHAT IS LOGIC NAND GATE?
The Logic NAND Gate is a combination of the digital
logic AND gate with that of an inverter or NOT gate
connected together in series. It is the reverse or
“Complementary” form of the AND gate we have seen
previously.

Lesson 6:
LOGIC NOR GATE
WHAT IS LOGIC NOR GATE?
The Logic NOR Gate or Inclusive-NOR gate is a
combination of the digital logic OR gate with that of
an inverter or NOT gate connected together in series.
It is the reverse or “Complementary” form of the OR
gate we have seen previously.

QUIZ TIME!
PART 1. IDENTIFICATION
1. The simplest gate, which is also known as an inverter. It accepts a single
input and output’s the opposite value.
2. What is the name of the circle that is used in NOT, NAND and NOR symbols
to represent the logical operation of the NOT function?
3. What are the two logic functions, also known as the UNIVERSAL GATE?
___
4. What is the logic function with a boolean expression of Q=A+B?
5. If the input of NOR gate is high and the other input is low, what will be the
output?
PART 2. SOLVING
I. Draw the illustration for the following boolean expressions. (2pts each)
_______
1. Q = A + B + C
___ ___
2. Q = (A.B) . (C.D)
__
3. Q = A

II. Show the truth table of the illustrations you’ve created from the first part.
(2pts each)
