Parable of The Lost Sheep -15:4-7

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-
nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he
joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together
and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will
be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous
persons who do not need to repent.

Modern context:

The children gathered as their teacher was about to begin speaking after the incident of the
child who got lost during the school excursion. The children gazed at teacher Jesus as he began
to speak.

‘’Children presume there is a mother of an orphanage with a hundred children and on child goes
missing. Doesn’t she leave the ninety-nine in the dorms alone and go after the lost child until
she finds it? And when she finds the child, she joyfully carries it back to the orphanage on top of
her shoulders and goes home. Then she calls all the children and staff together, ‘celebrate with
me; I have found our lost child, yes your sibling has returned to you.’ I tell you that in the same
way there will be more celebrating in our community over one student who sees the wronging
in their ways and apologizes than over ninety-nine flawless students who do not need to regret
their actions.
