Course Objectives:

The students will be able to:

 Acquire knowledge on basics of landscape design and its social, cultural, physical and
environmental importance, in accordance to design principles,
 Understand basic principles of sustainable landscape design,
 Develop a comprehensive landscape design on the basis of Landscape architecture, design &
ecology,
 Establish high quality communication, representation and visual skills appropriate to landscape
design projects, including written, verbal, graphical and model based presentation,
 Demonstrate abilities in teamwork and time management for group and individual work.

Course Description

 Landscape design course give an outline about the arrangement of landforms, vertical and
horizontal structures, vegetation, water and climate to create a system that function harmoniously
and makes up for a good outdoor space. The course focused on the basic principles, concepts and
elements of landscape design details and describes the basis of landscape architecture and design. It

also focuses on answering landscape architecture questions through scientific methodical well
founded ways. Landscape and urban heritage inquiry go beyond monuments to encompass sites,
cites, and regions which combines the study of conservation theory and practice with an exploration
of active urban landscape planning and design projects.

1.5.Function and benefits of landscape Design;
2. Chapter Two: Landscape design process and it’s constituents
2.1.Graphic language and the design process;
2.2.Steps in developing a landscape design;
2.3.Design Open Space with different Design languages;
2.4.Design Private Areas;
2.5.Semi-public space: Neighborhoods;
2.6.Private space: Small gardens;
2.7.Public space: Parks;
3. Chapter Three: Urban Landscape Dynamics
3.1.Planning of Landscape and Urban Systems;
3.2.Urban landscape analysis and planning;
3.3.Landscape and urban heritage conservation
3.4.Sustainable Landscape development and constructions:
 Grading System: As per the university regulation
 Attendance: Minimum of 80 % attendance during lectures and 100 % attendance during practical
work sessions
 Assignments/projects: All students must do all assignments/projects given
 Tests/Quizzes: All students must take all tests/quizzes given
 Cheating/Plagiarism: Cheating/plagiarism is strictly forbidden. It will result in disciplinary action
