The Dormitory Conditions Scale (DCS) is a self-report scale that measures students' perceptions
of the physical, social, and psychological aspects of their dormitory living environment. It consists
of 28 items that are rated on a 5-point Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree).

The DCS is divided into three subscales:

• Physical conditions: This subscale assesses students' perceptions of the physical

environment of their dormitory, including cleanliness, noise levels, temperature, and
comfort.

• Social conditions: This subscale assesses students' perceptions of the social environment
of their dormitory, including their relationships with their roommates and other residents,
their sense of community, and their overall satisfaction with the social aspects of dormitory
living.

• Psychological conditions: This subscale assesses students' perceptions of the

psychological impact of living in a dormitory, including their feelings of stress, anxiety, and
loneliness.

The DCS is a reliable and valid instrument that has been used in several studies to assess
dormitory living conditions. It is a relatively short and easy-to-administer scale, making it a good
choice for institutions that are interested in getting feedback from students about their dormitory
living experience.
