TEOCO Mediation – Processing Capabilities

Helix Mediation processes the incoming data according to
predefined rules (libraries)

• Each library includes the relevant components that receive, parse,

transform, enrich, validate, and forward the data to the next relevant
assurance application for further handling (such as creation of
thresholds and database storage)

• In addition, it is possible to add advanced processing capabilities, based

on market needs, specific technology, and vendor context (such as data
filtering and data splitting)

• The Mediation Engine is a near real-time operational tool that uses the
libraries to collect and process data

Helix Assurance Solution and Architecture Overview 20

Helix Assurance Solution and Architecture Overview

TEOCO Mediation – Communication Layer

Communication Admin manages the communication layer of
the Mediation platform

• The Communication Admin main task is to communicate with each

network element or network-managing system using its own protocol

• Using a single communication layer approach, it:

• Simplifies the communication administration and management
• Provides easier support for additional protocols

Helix Assurance Solution and Architecture Overview 21

TEOCO Mediation – Command Management

The NCI (Network Commands Interface) module supports
network commands using rich and interactive language

• The NCI Admin GUI enables authorized users to create and send
commands and command scripts to network elements
• Users can send predefined commands and scripts immediately or
schedule them for future execution, without needing to know the
network element’s unique format, protocol, and syntax
• The advanced NCI capabilities are integrated with the Helix
applications that communicate and interact with the network

Helix Assurance Solution and Architecture Overview 22

Helix Assurance Solution and Architecture Overview

TEOCO Mediation – Distributed and Cloud

• The Helix Collection agents are part of the Helix Mediation platform
• The Collection agents are deployed locally or at the relevant
distributed locations, and communicate with the central system
mediation.
• Each collection agent can collect FM and PM data from any subset of
network elements and includes persistency to local files for cases of
lost connectivity between the agent and the central system.
• The Helix Collection agents are also deployed to support collection
from different networks with duplicate IP addresses.

TEOCO's Helix Cloud, using the Distributed Collection

Agents, offers the option to host TEOCO's Helix suite of
Service Assurance products on a Cloud to enable a
faster and simpler delivery of network resources and
data over the internet – on demand and on a
pay-for-use basis.

Helix Assurance Solution and Architecture Overview 23

TEOCO Mediation – Monitoring

The Mediation Admin module provides advanced monitoring
capabilities on the data received from the EQPs and processed by the
system

• The Mediation Admin also enables simulating the equipment raw data and
viewing the library component queues.

• Additional environment
parameters such as CPU,
logs, memory, scripts, and
status are monitored.
