Introduction

2
The Golfo de Chiriquí is located about six and a half hours by car from Panama
City and is made up of the Coiba National Park, the Gulf of Chiriquí Marine
National Park and the Secas, Los Ladrones, Parrillas and Montuosa Islands. The
Golfo de Chiriquí National Park was established as such in 1994 in order to protect
the extensive marine life found in this area, including the coral reef, mangroves and
all the islands around it, some of which are well known, such as the Paridas or
Bolaños Islands. The Gulf of Chiriquí is one of the most virgin areas of Panama
that is worth visiting but also keeping it that way. Formed by islands of volcanic
origin, coral reef, mangroves, birds, dolphins, sea turtles, manta rays and endless
other animals, it can be said that it is one of the best kept places in Panama. At the
moment there are not many hotels to stay in but the local people fear that this will
change in a short period of time. On the one hand tourism will give them work but
on the other it will destroy the place where they live and it is perfectly
understandable that they do not want to. Let's hope then, that the place remains as
it is so that nature does not continue to suffer more negative changes caused by
man.

seagrass beds is the most significant aspect of the national park. The Gulf of
Chiriquí is very striking for its beautiful islands and beaches, for the fauna and flora
that abound in it and the spectacular sunsets that can be seen taking a one-hour
walk along its beaches. It has three types of tourism Sun and beach tourism Sports
tourism Nautical tourism It is a place of ecosystem inhabited by countless marine
species such as puffer fish, whales, dolphins, sharks, among others. It has great
natural and economic wealth for its nearby population or for anyone who wants to
work in the tourism field. The places in the gulf that do not belong to the Gulf of
Chiriquí National Marine Park, their population benefits from the perch because
although it is true that the area abounds with fish such as snapper, corvina, snook,
also agostas, oysters, etc. are species that people consume a lot.
