Page 1-5 Big Book

1. You will need 12 X 18 construction paper.

2. Glue page 1 - 2 on the title page.
3. Finish writing the title.
4. Add your name to By:
5. For example: By: Mrs. Griffin’s Class
6. Glue page 3 - 4 on a separate page.
7. You will need one page for each student.
9. Students fill in the blanks by themselves, or the teacher can for younger students.
10. Copy the cat head shapes on cardstock, cut out shapes, and let your students trace
around the larger shape on their book page.
11. Students color the cat.
12. Glue page 5 on the last page.
13. Laminate your book for durability.
14. Read to your students.
15. Place in a reading corner for independent reading.
16. Make pointers (shown in blog) to use with book.

Page 6- 10 to make an 8 x 1 1 Class Book or Student Book

1. Copy the title page “Our Book.”

2. Copy a page for each student.
3. Students can draw a picture of themselves, or they can glue a picture of themselves
on their paper.
4. Students can draw their own cat or use the shape provided.
5. Copy the shape of the cat head on cardstock, and let children trace around the small
shape to make the head.
6. Students color their page.
7. Combine student pages to make a class book.
8. Place in classroom library for independent reading.
9. Option 2: Use the “My Book” title page for student copy.

Page 10-1 1 to make an 8 x 1 1 Class Book or Student Book

1. Copy pages 11-12 and place in the writing center for students to make individual books
using their friends or families’ names.
2. Send home with students for a home-to-school connection.
