BE 2023: BAYANIHAN SA KALIGTASAN
FIRST AID AND BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING 2023

In collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) City of Balanga, a

comprehensive First Aid Training and Basic Life Support (BLS) program was
conducted on August 16, 2023 at Bagong Silang Elementary School ss part of our
school’s Brigada Eskwela 2023 and strategic activties in engaging stakeholders for Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management. Schools really should elevate health and safety, and in
particular first aid, to a position of prime importance. Having a thorough and well thought
out of first aid strategy will not only make schools safer, but also benefit wider communities.

The primary goal of this training was to equip participants with vital life-saving
skills and knowledge required to respond effectively in emergency situations. The
training was attended by participants from various sectors, such as teachers, student
leaders, BSP and GSP members, parents and some volunteers of brigada eskwela, all
dedicated to enhancing their ability to provide immediate assistance during critical
incidents.

The training encompassed topics essential for efficient first aid and basic life
support. Some of the key content areas covered were: Understanding the
fundamental principles and significance of first aid in emergency scenarios. Acquiring
a systematic approach to assess the scene, ensure personal safety, and administer
aid accordingly. Practical demonstration of proper cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) techniques for adults, children, and infants.

The training methodology was a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on

practice. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, case studies, and
simulation exercises that replicated real-life emergency situations. Practical
exercises, featuring specialized mannequins and equipment, enabled participants to
develop confidence and competence in applying learned techniques.

The training sessions were facilitated by F03 Ronieline M. Pastelero and SFO2
Angelito G. Dela Rosa, experienced professionals from the Bureau of Fire Protection
who were well-versed in emergency medical care. Their expertise extended beyond
theoretical concepts, as they shared practical insights and real-world experiences to
underscore the critical nature of swift and accurate first aid interventions. The
instructors' approachability and comprehensive teaching style fostered an
environment conducive to active participation and inquiry.

The participants' active engagement throughout the training was notable. They
embraced hands-on activities, role-play scenarios, and group discussions with
enthusiasm. The diverse backgrounds and experiences of the attendees enriched
conversations, offering a range of perspectives. Participants were encouraged to ask
questions, leading to in-depth discussions and a vibrant learning atmosphere.

The collaboration between the Bureau of Fire Protection and the First Aid
Training and Basic Life Support program yielded an empowering and enlightening
experience for all participants. Attendees not only acquired life-saving knowledge but
also developed the confidence to respond efficiently during medical emergencies. The
training serves as a significant stride toward establishing a safer community, where
individuals are prepared and capable of extending assistance when needed. The
dedication of both participants and facilitators highlights the importance of
continuous education in the realm of first aid and emergency medical care. Through
initiatives like this, the Bureau of Fire Protection reinforces its commitment to the
welfare and safety of the community.
